In any case, Ledger has nicely erased his vacuous pretty-boy image and given us all a big surprise. I wonder if it is fatherhood that has prompted him to get his acting act together. Regardless, we were plain wrong. A performance like this doesn’t come from nowhere. Heath Ledger must have been (much) more talented than we realized. Let us also hope he doesn’t backslide down Brokeback Mountain

Un rapido messaggio, specialmente per Frances.
Domenica ho visto "Closer". Ne sono assolutamente entusiasta. E' il miglior film recente che abbia visto dopo BBM. Un film forte, crudamente onesto, sulle relazioni umane. Uno script formidabile, un cast straordinario. La Roberts e Law sono al loro meglio, ma chi mi ha colpito di più sono Clive Owen e Nathalie Portman, che non immaginavo avessero tanto talento.

Un film bellissimo, che consiglio vivamente a tutti quelli che non hanno paura delle storie poco rassicuranti sulla natura umana.

Assolutamente in linea, mia cara. Portman e Owen meravigliosi. In particolare il secondo è capace di nobilitare anche filmetti come Derailed, thriller di medio-basso livello che vive solo del suo carisma.

La sua "aggressione verbale" a Julia Roberts in CLOSER è forte, tesa, vera, intensa. Ricordo ancora il silenzio irreale quel pomeriggio al Warner Village durante la proiezione. Clive ci aveva ammutoliti tutti

Intanto mi sto leggendo lo script....la traduzione dei dialoghi, una volta tanto, è stata ottima, ma devo dire che in Inglese la crudezza delle parole è ancora più avvertibile.....

Il suo stile ha fatto scuola, specie tra i giovani registi americani, come Paul Thomas Anderson e Paul Haggis
 
Non posso che esserne lusingato, ma sinceramente non riesco ad apprezzare tutti i film che i critici ricollegano al mio stile o nei quali vedono la mia influenza.
 
A quali si riferisce?
 
Ad esempio a Crash che avrà pure vinto l'Oscar, ma a me è sembrato molto brutto. Mentre invece sono felice di dire che mi è piaciuto moltissimo Magnolia

Naturalmente appena ho letto la notizia di Francesca, sono partito alla ricerca. L'unica cosa che è venuta fuori è l'abbinamento film+libro (a 21 euro) come è già successo per altri film (v. "La bestai nel cuore" e "I diari della motocicletta"). Non sono riuscito a capire se è questa l'edizione speciale di cui parlava frances.

Comunque, una volta finito sul sito della Feltrinelli, ho trovato una vecchia recensione a BBM da Venezia che termina così:

"La storia del cinema è piena di film d'amore, ciascuno di noi ne ha visti tanti, troppi e in gran parte dimenticabili. Sembrava impossibile che sul tema ci fosse ancora qualcosa di non fatto e di non detto. Poi è arrivato Brokeback Mountain."

Bel finale che voglio condividere.
