I have hard times once in a while also.

You describe it well. It's bittersweet. It's so painful and so heart-wrenching and also it brings feelings we have never experienced before, huh? Sometimes it's too hard to bear

but most of times I feel blessed to be in love with Ennis and Jack and to feel this terrible, incredible pain for them.

This picture is painful and beautiful, like PBS. For you, Tizi!

A Facebook find, again ...

The only info given with this pic is the name of the artist, Tim Cox.
There is no hint for any BBM reference but I personally can hardly believe he did NOT watch it before he painted this.

Tim Cox has done a lot of cowboys, many that could be Ennis & Jack, just a few:

Sure brings back memories of Ennis & Jack.
Hard to date these works, but as you say, hard to imagine he was not inspired by what he saw in BBM.

To be honest, I had already taken a look at Tim Cox' site also, and a large part of the paintings remind me of EJ, all of those you've shared with us here and some more, even this one in style of the
*Jack resting with the dog* scene (Can't resist to post it in this context although we become more and more OT here, I think

)

And I didn't consider the date of his works !!

You are right, this is not very clear. I found out Cox has got his own FB page but it doesn't say anything about the dates of origin either ... If I get it right he was an active painter before 2000 already but has been decorated with prizes later as well. So who knows if BBM inspired him at least after the movie has been released in 2005?

Maybe it's just coincidentially ... And we as Brokies just tend to read Brokeback into his paitings?!?

This is gorgeous, as well as his other works. and whether he meant that or not, for us it will always be Ennis and Jack there...

Yeah, the visual similarities here are startling. Almost impossible to believe that there isn't some kind back story here, either Cox is imitating or capturing the essence of BBM and Ennis & Jack, OR maybe Marit Allen had access to some of his works in developing her schemes. She did an incredible amount of western wear research and maybe she was really struck by the scenes in Cox's work. The colors, the poses, even the high crown on Ennis's silverbelly cowboy hat, these are period designs (60s) that you might not see in contemporary western wear. For me these painting are really electric, charged thru and thru with the feel of Ennis and Jack.
