Hi there brokies!!! ^f^
Some of you knows that I’ve watched BBM at theatres 5 times but, though I have the DVD, I’ve never watched it ‘cause my PBS is so brutal that in these last two years I was not able to see that so much pain again….. :\'( :\'( :\'(
But I remember perfectly EVERYTHING about the film, every take, every face, every dialogue, every body, every clothes…..And sometimes I find enough brave to look at some of those beautiful pictures that you brokies posted here in this forum, so yesterday looking at several pictures of Ennis I noticed something very curious. I don’t know where I have to write it (“doubles meanings” where people are talking about clothing in BBM, “scenes of observation”…) so I decided to start a very little topic and if you prefer to lead me to another thread like MPJ did in “Ironic BBM” (thank you sweetie, what would I do without you? %)) I’ll be ok whatever you want.
I was watching a picture of the campfire scene after the kiss reunion where Ennis is smiling…., happy!! That was so touching for me, so beautiful: Ennis happy!!! But later I saw a detailed picture of Ennis in the last confrontation scene, and then I saw it!!! %&)
Brokies please correct me if I got wrong, but isn’t it the same jacket in both scenes? Both are corduroy, the collar are the same, and the swipes too, and in the confrontation scene you can see how old and worn the jacket is!!!! Oh, I’m so sorry but I don’t know how to post pictures here (sometimes I’m such a silly girl…), but I know you brokies can do it so well, so we can check the jacket. I’m absolutely sure that is the same jacket. And OMG POOR ENNIS……he was living almost in poverty……quitting jobs to see Jack, making child support payments, so he had to wear the same jacket for 16 years or so……. :\'( :\'( :\'(
My heart aches for Ennis, so poor, so lonely, so in trouble in his heart…. :\'( :\'( :\'(
Now can you see why I can’t watch the film again? Every little detail like one jacket tore my heart out. :\'(

Hello babytammy7!
Without the benefit of checking the dvd, I seem to recall that they are very similar, if not the same. Yes, I did note that the jacket in the last confrontation scene is quite worn, contrasting with Jack's jacket and shirt, most especially.
How about Ennis's shirt in both scenes?
It certainly speaks volumes about Ennis's poverty, if this were so.

Are this the pictures?

BT: Another set of views, I believe these confirm your observation. It looks like the same jacket. No doubt about it, Ennis was dirt poor, no way could he quit his job. (OT - I love the way Jack always favored those big coats with big collars, like his first green coat and these pictured here.)

Thnaks for the confirmation, jackster!

BT: A view from another deleted scene, an earlier camping trip, the one where Jack asks Lureen "Honey, you seen my blue parka?" I don't recall the year, but there's ol' Ennis in the same jacket (same hat too). I love this pic, Ennis has a can of beans he's brought for "no more beans" Jack.

Oh thank you so much guys, specially Jackster!!!! ^f^
I knew it was the same jacket!!! :\'( How sad is that...... :\'(
I wish I were there to give Ennis wonderful clothing, a decent place to live and a new truck for his horses!!! And a lot of brave to change his whole life!!! If I could..... :\'(
BTW, I love Jack's big coats too!!! <^(
Kisses brokies, you all are so nice!!! And I also knew you were so clever (about the pictures... :8 :8 ).

Dear BT - No, Ennis's jeans are not torn here, it is a reflection of the light.
You can relax a little. He was poor, but not impoverished. :-*

B.T. - Those of us on "Team Ennis" can't get enough.
Here's another picture from the scene just after the divorce (ca. '75-'76) when Ennis is wearing the same old jacket.

*o) a little. Could anybody tell me if there´s a thread about deleted scenes and,if not, where could I find them?.Does any of you know why have been deleted?. :t)
P.S.=Hey,Babytammy, how are you now? ^f^
-
Do any of you know why they have been deleted?.
MPJ: It is usual in making movies to shoot many more scenes and shots than are used in the final version of the film. BBM was no exception, you will learn about many scenes that were not included in the movie. Much has been written about these (I will let those more knowledgeable direct you to those). The Director (Ang Lee) is the person who decides what to include in the film. The choices made by the Director can make a Great film, not all scenes and shots are good! Even though we Brokies always want to know more and see more, one of the things that makes this film so wonderful is that there are no "bad" scenes or acting. It is 100% perfection.
