Title: DVD release - Poland, Hungary, Czech & Turkey
Post by: rdx on Nov 10, 2011, 02:14 PM
I came across the Polish DVD. The menus are very nice (much better than on most other European releases). The grass and the clouds in the main & scene selection menus are animated: simple but effective.

(https://ennisjack.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsn2files.storage.live.com%2Fy1pjVtCoFVYhmC0Jeo3lY395Ryd3SBBk5Kic3E6Nh0O3gxy_O8YF3NSxQq6_tq38gIN_hoYk0zUo_k%2Fmainmenu_POL.jpg&hash=2ecee58e3654f3a10aec7ffcf7ba9ccf05d2cd00) (https://ennisjack.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsn2files.storage.live.com%2Fy1pAcEB0yQQLj7LY79iSSCoGlXpQnY5Ax9y3nIvgUFpqFxp0rMTAWLMkns_QzpgNiAhEXAJTltHxXs%2Fchaptermenu_POL.jpg&hash=d2f71a7b4a108a2519c498d3e69c88de233868b6)

The other menus are still. Image compositions are rather unique. The "Behind the scenes" clip is also on this DVD.

The other soundtrack is "Lektor Polski": one male voice 'explaining' all the spoken lines of the film.

And the cover:

The translated title follows the Romance language tradition: Mystery/Secret (of) Brokeback Mountain. Miłość ponad wszystko - Love above all.

Maybe they should join forces with their German friends and do a Sandmännchen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandm%C3%A4nnchen) version of BBM.. :*(

Dear Detective rdx:

You sure come up with some interestin' stuff. These are really creative montages of the usual BBM photos we're all so accustom to. Puttin' Ennis & Jack relaxing at a lake using "I'm no queer" setting; Ennis standing at his beat-up old shack with his rifle and '63 outfit; and then the combo of Ennis in his '63 outfit, Jack in his "wish I knew how to quit you" '82 outfit both posed on the high plains under a threatening sky. These are wonderful! You have to wonder who did this and whut they were thinkin', what kind of point they were tryin' to get across, or if it was just someone playin' around on the computer, mixin' things up. Is this a ca. 2006 release?

Makes the mind wander into all sort of different (an' possibly naughty) combinations of views and backgrounds and poses. That would make a great thread, but don't think the mods would approve, huh?
 :P

Thanks again for your seemingly endless rootin' around the world for these images.
 :c)

Thanks Mr. jackster!

The cover doesn't mention the production year of the DVD and the etailer has no information when it was released, but I'd say it was 2006. The Polish film premier was in February 2006.

Yes, that sort of thread would be great...O0

I found some pix of the Hungarian DVD. Nothing special but the language menu picture of Ennis is somewhat unusual.

dear rdx:

The Ennis view you mention appears to be cropped from a larger view of Ennis in a very wonderful, somewhat more revealing pose ^-^. There are three in this series that I know of, some with those cute, perky blue heelers:
(https://ennisjack.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi139.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq313%2Fjackster545%2F2ax3copy.jpg&hash=4e4b4329cdd03bcea0b2d4551e60e23e53246b6c)
(https://ennisjack.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi139.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq313%2Fjackster545%2F002qbs7hpasicopy.jpg&hash=d13da369f5bdc86f4490af453091dfc74c425b36) (https://ennisjack.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi139.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq313%2Fjackster545%2Fmount42copy.jpg&hash=02d4a40dd633f0c2a1bde98075ef11b067b9d9a4)

However, I'm very intrigued by the back cover view of Jack+Ennis by the truck. As you may know I'm very partial to views of the boys with their trucks. This looks like a wonderful pose which I've not seen before, shot down low, it has perfect lighting with the sun raking across Ennis (and his jeans) ::). There are a dozen or so views taken beside, or on, Ennis's GMC truck all of which are wonderfully posed and (to me) very erotic. Could I ask you a big favor and have you post or PM me a larger scan of this shot for my Ennis, ahem "truck" collection?
( >:D sorry this is WAY OT).

The Czech DVD has quite a nice 'semi-animated' start menu; while Ennis is in Jack's room, a superimposed painting portraying Jack on the wall is zoomed into and transformed to the main menu.

These are great and very creative. (We won't nitpick that those wild and crazy Czechs have transported a double hung window sash into the Twists front door!  ::)) Someone had a lot of fun here no doubt.
Can you tell whut Ennis is lookin' at out Jack's window? I can't figure out if it's just the standard view of the Twist farm or if the "package artists" have conjured up some strange and surreal scene that Ennis is supposed to be spying here?

jackster, I'd say that the view is just the standard view with a sort dreamlike mood in the room, reminding of Jack.

The scene selection menu is 'simple' but rather unique:

OK, I know... :i

I say it once more: the designers from the eastern side of Europe just know these things better.

That's creepy and sad :_(

The DVD cover (inner & outer) from Turkey:

This is the official release, so the cover is quite unique compared to the poster picture. Also the inner sleeve is rather original with emphasis on Lureen.

The main menu on the DVD, quite beautiful overlays:
