Title: Independent Spirit Film Awards - March 4

The 2006 Independent Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2006. The ceremony will air live on IFC (Independent Film Channel) at 2:00 pm PST (5:00 pm EST). If you miss the live show, you can watch the edited rebroadcast on AMC the same evening at 10:00 pm EST/PST. An exclusive half-hour red carpet show will air live on the WE Channel at 1:30 pm PST (4:30 pm EST).

BBM is nominated for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Male Lead (Heath), Best Supporting Female.

BTW, Maggie Gyllenhaal is also nominated in Best Supporting Female for Happy Endings

I get cable, but not the IFC channel. But I did call and order it today :-)

you can also go to getty images and the other wire image services to see who won.  on dish satellite tv it is shown on their basic top 120 channels.  ch. 131.  karin

BBM won 2 awards - best feature and best director.

As part of the program, each best feature nominee is "saluted" with a song. BBM was saluted with a song based on "On Top of Old Smokey" sung by Peter Gallagher.

"On top of the mountain,  All covered with sheep...."

Pretty funny. I'll try to catch all the words on the rebroadcast on AMC tonight.

Hi Folks,

I just heard that Ang Lee won best director and Brokeback best feature at the IFS Awards 2006.I also heard that Jake was presenting.Heath lost out too Hoffman AGAIN!.

Maggie Gyllenhaal was nominated for best supporting actress,but she didn't win.I haven't seen any of this as i'm in England so if anyone has more news,pictures or knows of clips on the net i would love to hear about it.

Well,i just checked Getty images and Jake is not there or listed,so i guess he didn't present after all :(

Heath and Michelle piccies are there though.Nabbed a few.

Sure wish you had put a **********SPOILER ALERT**********.

The awards aren't coming on for another 37 minutes on the West coast.



But I guess it is really my fault. I should have known better than to log on this early and that there would be excited people wanting to talk about it.  I'll remember next time.

I loved Sarah Silverman's joke about seeing BBM with her boyfriend!  VERY filthy.  :-D  Heath liked it too, after the shock wore off.

Four films took home two honors each at the Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Feature winner Brokeback Mountain. The heavy Oscar favorite also nabbed Best Director for Ang Lee (also Oscar nominated ), and the acting winners were also four people who will be attending the Academy Awards on Sunday: Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote), Felicity Huffman (Transamerica), Matt Dillon (Crash), and Amy Adams (Junebug). Winning two alongside Brokeback were Capote (Best Male Lead and Screenplay), Transamerica (Best Female Lead and First Screenplay), and Crash (Best Supporting Male and First Feature). Can't say I like that song Peter Gallagher sang.  Reckon' I don't have much of a sense of humor when "outsiders" make fun of OUR movie.

What was Silverman's joke?  Can you post it, or would Froggy turn green?

No, that's not the scene I was thinking of, Froggy.  It was when she was on stage, and talking about how she and her boyfriend had gone to see Brokeback, but her boyfriend had to close his eyes during the sex scene in the tent....

I've been looking for more youtube files..I have found the intro of BBM, but not the complete one...there does not seem to be that many on the net..shame it looked like a really funny award ceremony!
