i don't know if the thread exist but i just want to say that it was amazing the way the eyes and looks of each character is handled and the way they expressed without words!!!
-
sometimes it seems like their eyes are all they have to speak with . . .
-
yes like the scene Ennis goes with the girls to the store and Alma refused to have them his eyes said it all

yup that is exactly what i mean but was referring to the scene when he raises his eyebrow
-
Two of my favorite facial expressions of Ennis...the way he looks at Jack when they're at the bar and Jack's talking about the sheep that were killed by lightning...that is the funniest look, I laugh whenever I see it...then when Jack tells Ennis "Let's git, unless u want to sit around tying knots all day" Ennis gives him another look, like who does he think he is giving me orders, lol. Donna :D

HAHA! I wondered if anyone else found that funny about that look on Ennis' face when Jack tells him about the lightning strike on the sheep, it's hilarious. It's like "whaaaa??" Love it!!
And wait, I think I just found something new out. Why didn't I put two and two together? When Ennis drops the kids off to Alma's work, he's going to meet Jack? Oh man, I believed him, I thought he was going to work, lol. Let me watch this scene again real quick and find out what happens after this scene, see if he's with Jack. I've got the DVD at work :)

What gives you the impression he is meeting Jack? When he meets Jack he usually spends the week. He wasn't this time. He told Alma to bring home some round steak for dinner.

you have a point there patriot he is definitely not going to see jack
-
Because that seems to be what people were saying ?? Or maybe I misunderstood. I didn't think he was going to see Jack at all, because you always see them afterwards. And now that I think about it, duh again, they hadn't even had the reuinion yet, so that's not possible. The reunion isn't until after Lureen has the baby. Ok, I got all confused there. I'm better now
-
Something that doesn't make sense though, is that he tells Alma to bring home some ground steaks. He just told her he would be half the night. Why have her bring home steaks for dinner when he's not even going to be home?

I would think he would be hungry whenever he gets home. Never have steak and eggs for breakfact? GOOOOOD!
-
That's true, it is very good. It just sounded as if he would be getting in like in the middle of the night and men, they sure can eat anytime of day, just ask my fiancee', lol!!

I SO adore Jake's eyes in this movie. I mean, yeah, I adore his eyes anyway :D but I mean WOW! the way Jack looks at Ennis, the expressions on his face, the sadness/longing/tenderness in his eyes, the way you can LITERALLY see his soul- if that isn't Oscar worthy I don't know what is.
-
the eyes of all the crew were amazin Lureens eyes on the phone scene Alma eyes when she saw them kissing, Jack's eyes when he they were on their first fishing trip
-
I do agree that there expressions and there eyes really say so much..the yearning for more, hope, sadness, tradegy, joy..everything. The eyes are said to be windows to the soul..so we see their souls or a glimse of it in the movie...Their facial expressions also show thier joy, happiness, and sadness...it makes thier characters believable and human and to life

For Jake, the eyes are most expressive in this scene:

Ang Lee said in an interview that when an actor plays a part like Heath and Jake did they often display their private feelings in their eyes. This "no, it is not me, I'm just acting" look. He saw none of this with Heath and Jake and it excited him.
He said they both gave an "unprotected performance."

and also in Jack's flashback scene when Ennis rides off...
This is indeed true. Like you I should give this scene its due. Indeed, these two scenes are equal.
The eyes in the lasso scene express love, sympathy, and understanding.
In the end of the flashback scene, it is simply love.
-
:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( not again!!!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how is it you always manage to express in words what I feel deep down? :D :-*

i think the same KOKA Tpe Rocks!!!!!

Carlos_H82 and koka, you and the other posters are really the ones that deserve the congratulations.
One of the most wonderful things about this forum is that people take the extra trouble to share with others what moves them deeply.
I can't help but react to all this. Thanks.

I love watching Jake's eyebrow go up ....while he is standing by the truck as they say goodbye after coming down Brokeback....his eyebrow goes up when he tells Ennis he most likely will be back next summer.....trying to say...hint..hint....but Ennis just didn't get it....
Jake's slight smile when they sit by the fire just before Ennis actually "talks" to him .....more than he talked in a year !! Jake can tell he is being more comfortable...and can talk to him....more than he can to anyone else...
etc.etc.....just wanted to add the two that come to mind...that I can watch over and over....thanks to Ang Lee for the great closeups...
