We upgrade the forum today and are excited to provide more features in this forum. Here are a few new features.

1. No more banner ads.  ;D

2. Spell check for posting.

3. Sticky topics - those are the topics already staying on the top of board with this icon (https://ennisjack.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xsorbit30.com%2Fimages%2Ftopic%2Fnormal_post_sticky.gif&hash=e7af42ed4712fbfe089232debf1a2da9835c2b54)

4. Event Calendar - On top of the page, you will see this icon (https://ennisjack.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xsorbit30.com%2Fimages%2Fenglish%2Flinktocal.gif&hash=b6f8084645c5dca1ec5129fbaf55e7cd44c2687b). When you scroll down to the forum home page, you will see a section of upcoming events.

5. File attachment with a post -  You can attach the following file types: txt, doc, pdf, jpg, gif, mpg, png
                                             
Maximum attachment size allowed: 128 KB. In order to attach file, you must a registered member and have at least 10 posts. To attach files, cllick "Additional Options" under the text box and you can browse the files from the location of file and attach.

Dear BBM forum members,

The forum went live on December 19, 2005 out of my pure obsession with BBM. After more than a month, the forum has grown to the size of more than 1100 members with more than 10000 posts. I am grateful to your contribution, many of them heartfelt and thought provoking. Coming to this forum and reading these posts make most of my days. I can't express my gratitude to everyone enough for enriching the experience of this forum. You bring this forum to live.

As the forum grows larger, the workload for the moderators (http://www.ennisjack.com/index.php?topic=413.0) also increases. Our moderators volunteer their time and effort because of their passion for BBM. I'd kindly ask you to read and follow the guidelines (http://www.ennisjack.com/index.php?topic=217.0). As you wander around in the forum,  please let us know if you have question or concern on specific posts. It may happen sometimes that posts or topics are edited or deleted. Please understand the decision of doing so doesn't come easily. The forum belongs to everyone and it is important for everyone to make it a friendly, supportive and informative community. For that, we rely on your help.

Please report the following to the administrative staff immediately.

The forum is undergoing some reorganization of the boards. Some of the boards have been removed to better serve the needs of the members.

Some topics have been moved to a different board which may be difficult to locate. I encourage you to use "research" located on the top of th board and apologize for any inconvenience during this transition period.

Update: Forum reorganization

The forum has been reorganized to facilitate posting and discussion.

Three major boards have been deleted and replaced

Deleted: "BBM Questions" "Your Review & Thought" & "Anything Goes"

The topics in these boards have been moved to "Characters, Quotes & Scenes" "BBM Impact, Thought & Experiences"

Also, there are some modification of the boards and structure.

Cast, Ang Lee, & Soundtrack consists of child boards of Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllanhaal, Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway, Ang Lee, and Soundtrack

AP Story and Screenplay has been added to the board for discussion of short story and screenplay.

Not Sure Where to Post was added to help members who don't know which board to post the topic.

Forum Update

The forum recently was reorganized.

There are now three main boards -

Feature Boards - the feature boards will be used to feature some of the boards either from "The Movie & Story" and "Member Corner." They will be rotated on a regular basis.

The Movie & Story - this board is all about BBM.

Member Corner - an area for chatting and other members' interests.

An index was created to help members find BBM discussion and it is located in "Characters, Scenes & Quotes"

"Local Channels" was added for non-English discussions.

Dear members,

I am sorry to inform that we are quickly approaching the limit of our server space for attachments - 50MB. Starting May 1, members will not be able to attach files and we will start deleting some of the photos. Starting May 1, you will see some posts contain [deleted by administrator] because we need to make more space for future use.

Meanwhile, I'd like to ask everyone a favor. Please try to use the following websites to host images and use the link of the image to post.

It will really help us save the space.

Auguet 2nd, the forum experienced a lot of server difficulty. When the server is down, it usually shows the message "unable to connect to database"

In a situation like this, we can only report the outage to tech support and let's hope it will be up and running smoothly soon.

The mod team felt that this board has saturated with number of threads and many of them are worth visiting and re-visiting (currently 225 topics). We encourage you to visit and keep posting in these great threads. And of course, if you have any interesting idea for a new thread, you are welcome to pass your idea to the mod team.

As the forum grows larger, the mod team feels the need to mass email members for important forum updates and upcoming events and better communicate with our members.

The email update will only be used when necessary and only to those who wish to receive it.

By default, the option of receiving notification by email is on when you register. Please check your profile setting and make sure the noficiation option is unchecked if you do not want to receive any email or PM updates.

Title: Removal of nested quotes

Lately, the forum has experienced excessive quoting. In order to keep our "home" clean and not too cluttered, starting October 22 posts with nested quotes will be automatically removed. This will only show the quote of the post in question, not any other ones.

Below is an example of nested quote. In many cases, it is not necessary. Please minimize the use of quote, especially those with long post or large pix. It saves us a lot of scrolling and it looks neater.

Important Forum Update

In the last week of December, the forum will be moved to a new server. When the forum is ready to move, there will be a down time for a few hours. An announcement will be made when we are ready to move.

Once the move is complete, the forum will have a new look with faster speed and enhanced features. There will be no change of the forum structure and all you need to do is to log on with your username and password.

Title: Forum Moving Update

Hello everyone, we are in the final preparation to move the forum at the scheduled date and time.

The forum here at Xsorbit will be on maintenance mode on December 28 midnight, Eastern Stardard Time for making a backup of the forum.

As soon as we start moving, the forum at the new server will be in maintenance mode and you will not be able to log on.

It is expected to take 4 - 6 hours to complete the move. As soon as the transition is complete, you will see a forum with same structure and new look at www.ennisjack.com

As a friendly reminder - please backup your avatar if you uploaded it to the forum. You will need it to upload again after the forum is moved.

When you log on for the first time after the moving is complete, please check  your profile settings and private messages. They should all remain untouched.

Some of you may need to upload avatars again.

Other than some difference on the appearance, there are a few enhanced features.

1. Front page -the front page will be the first page upon arrival at ennisjack.com
2. Member Map (http://ennisjack.com/index.php?action=mm) - you can place a pin on the world map.
3. Staff List - list of administrators and moderators
4. Gallery - the gallery is now closed. For now, it will be used for the forum pix.
5. We can also customize the spell check. If you need certain words to be included, please let us know.

We are starting a maintenance routine in order to do a back up of the data hosted on the forum.  In order to do it properly, the forum will be "off line" for a short period of time on a selected date, at a selected time.

As you probably are aware, the US changed the daylight savings time last weekend.

Our forum time is set to US Eastern Time. Some of you may have some time discrepancy.

To make the adjustment, you can do so by modifying in your profile.

Go to your profile, in the section of modify profile, click look and layout preference

In the field of Time Offset, enter the hour difference.

For example, +4 for those in UK and -3 for those in US west coast.

Click "Change Profile" after you are done.

Lately, the forum has attracted a large number of spammers registering for the sole purpose of spam. We like you to know that the mod team is working hard to remove spam posted in the forum.

There may be time when the mod team is not fast enough to remove them, please be cautious and DO NOT click any links which are suspicious as they may contain viruses.

Please report them to the mod's attention if you see suspicious spams. Thank you for your help and support.  :^^)

Dear Brokies, below is the reminder for the guidelines of posting images.

1. Profile signature - no image please

2. Posts/profiles that contain explicit, obscene or vulgar images, or links to such images, will be removed without notice and accounts subject to deletion!

3. Posting images - After previous discussions in the mod team, some pictures posted on the forum had to be removed. We understand many members are big fans of Heath, Jake and others. As supportive fans, let's respect them as who they are and not manipulate their pics to fulfill our fantasy. Collages are allowed of the Brokeback Mountain characters, and of each actor individually, but not of both actors mixed together. To maintain this level of respect, the forum also asks the members not to post paparazzi photos or photos that constitute a clear invasion of their privacy. Please do not post any nude images - either front or back. We thank you for your understanding and support. If you are not sure about the pix, please check with the mod team first.

As you probably are aware, the forum performs monthly maintenance and backup. To reduce the size of forum data, we kindly ask you to clean your PM inbox. Please delete the PMs which you don't need to keep before our next scheduled backup on June 19. It will significantly reduce the size.

Unfortunately, there is no way to export all PMs and save them in your computer. One alternative is to enable PM notification. When you receive a PM, you will be sent an email notification which also include the content of the PM.

To enable PM notification, you can modify your profile setting by clicking the link below

I contacted tech support. It is not the problem of this forum but some others hosted in the same server. I hope the problem will not persist.

The forum is scheduled to perform its monthly maintenance and backup on June 19. To help us reduce the size of backup, I'd like to ask you to delete PMs that you don't need to keep before June 19 and do so on the regular basis.

As an alternative to keep all your PMs, you can opt for receiving email notification of new PM by modifying your Personal Message options. In the field of "Notify by email every time you receive a personal message," select "Always". When you receive a new PM, you will be notified by an email. Please note that do not reply to the email notification because the email reply will be sent to the forum, not the intended recipient.

The forum has limited resources and with your help, we can maximize the use of these resources. The least we want to do is to impose a PM limit in the inbox.

The forum performed its monthly backup and maintenance on April 17 at 11 PM Eastern Standard Time.

During maintenance, the forum was slightly re-organized as part of our continuing effort to improve. The significant changes include the deletion of Feature Boards and moving Local Channels to "Member Corner" accessible to members only and adding a new board called Around Brokeback Mountain.

It saddens me to inform you that this week's Newsletter is the final issue. It is a shame to see it go and I know most will feel the same way. Please understand that it was not an easy decision and rest assured that the decision is not an indication of current forum state or a reflection of future direction. It is simply a result of lack of resources and fresh ideas to keep the forum Newsletters going and going strong. For more than two years, the Newsletter had served its purpose. Unfortunately, it is time to take a break for now but we might be back.

Early today (March 13), the forum was experiencing technical difficulty with lots of errors. Several attempts were made to fix the problem but not successful.

As the last resort to bring the forum back to a working condition without significant interruption, a restoration of using backup copy was done. Inevitably, some data were lost. The backup was created on March 2 which means all the posts and personal messages, new users registered between March 2 and prior to restoration are lost. As you browse the forum, you may recognize some discrepancy. If you have threads and posts made between March 2 and 12, please help us restore and re-post them.

New Registered Users between March 2 - March 12 - please re-register again because your registration was lost.

Our server hosting company suspended our account due to possibly security attack for spam and phishing activities. Now the problem has been solved.

Whew..the forum crashed and is at least now back live. Not sure what the problems were.

We were able to reinstall and upgrade the software to the latest version and restore all the data. 

There are some features not yet reinstalled - some of which you probably won't even recognize. We will see if there are needs for these features. If not, they won't be reinstalled.

One major component which I didn't finish is the profile layout. The forum may just keep it as it is now and not modifying.

One major change is the forum's URL - it is changed from http://www.ennisjack.com/index.php (http://www.ennisjack.com/index.php) to http://www.ennisjack.com/forum/index.php (http://www.ennisjack.com/forum/index.php)

As you browse through, do report if there is any problem. Thank you for your help and patience during the process.
