I found this review.  To say the least, from a straight man, very honnest!  Go see for yourself:

Chameau, thanks for posting that link.  I am always fascinated to see what straight guys have to say about the movie, who genuinely had been moved by it.  Maybe we should start a separate topic dedicated to reviews by straight guys scoured from forums, websites, etc.  Maybe we can use these reviews to convince our straight guy friends to give the movie a chance  :D

Yesterday's Chicago Sun-Times has a beautiful full page ad for BBM.  Awards are splashed all over the page.

Included is this review from Rex Reed:

"An American Masterpiece!  A Magnificent Love Story!  A work of such courage, complexity and greatness that no easy one-liner could ever do it justice.  The acting is superior.  Enduring and unforgettable."

...and this one from Owen Glieberman of Entertainment Weekly:

"A rare crowd pleaser with the potential to change hearts and minds.  Rapturous and revolutionary."

Alongside the ad is a listing of theaters that are now showing BBM in the greater Chicagoland area - 40 in all!  2 weeks ago, it was showing in only 7.

Yes, interesting to see the emotional gut wrench still comes all these years later. One item us purists need to correct her on though, when shes say: "Its most tear-jerking scenes occur on one of Ennis and Jack’s many trips back to Brokeback Mountain" - well as we know, they never went back to BBM, always to somewhere else.

An interesting link in this story, that may be cited elsewhere on EnnisJack but I didn't catch, was the Academy's re-evaluation of the 2006 Best Picture voting:

(woops I see this has been posted already)
