I'm sure someone knows what "roughneck" means in this context. Ennis's sister married a roughneck. Junior's boyfriend Kurt works in the oil fields (I think) and is a roughneck.

Thanks, dirtbiker! I thought it was a more generic term, like any of various blue-collar workers, but it would appear in BBM context to mean in the oil industry. Though people sure have used the word to mean a rough/fighting guy type of person, yes?
Here's what wikipedia says:
Roughneck (or ruffneck) is a slang term for an unskilled or slightly skilled labourer in a number of industries. In particular, is the official name of a semi-skilled role on a North American oil rig.

I'm sure you've figured it out by now, hpv. You just needed to log in again. That really bugs me. I say "Forever" for session time, but it always cuts me off, often while I'm in the middle of some long post.

nothing helps..I've logged off/on ,I even shut the computer down...
Changed programs from Firefox to Microsoft...still no good
