Hi FOLKS:
My name is Theresa and I am the owner/administrator of two of the affiliates of ennisjack.com, Heath Ledger Central and Addicted To The Movie Candy.
I am part of a campaign to help Heath and the Movie Candy be released for us to see all over the world. We desperately need your help. Right away. This is very serious and whether or not you participate as a Heath fan, WILL make a huge difference.
The movie Candy and Heath need your support or we aren’t going to get to see the film hardly anywhere. The release is more limited than the original release of Brokeback. Right now only 2 theaters in the USA. LA and NY. It is smaller and less commercial than BBM so it doesn’t have the advantages of being in wider release without help. If you want the opportunity to see this movie anywhere in the world we have to have your help. Sorry this email is so long but we just want to explain the situation.
We have been in contact with the movie companies, executive producers, and film distributors and they tell us that if we want to be able to see this movie we have to convince the exhibitors there are enough people to make it worth putting it in wide release to support it. The exhibitors are the most important. They are the people that choose whether or not to buy the right and show the film in their theaters. NO MASS EMAILS OR PETITIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED EXCEPT FROM THE ADDICTED TO THE MOVIE CANDY ORGANIZATION. We have a consultant to us who works purchasing these films for one of the biggest exhibitors in the country. This person keeps us informed of everything that is going on in the industry with this film and right now the news is bleak for anyone not in NY or LA. And then only 1 to 2 theaters in those two cities and a maximum of 2 weeks if things go according to plan. That would leave out about 99% of you from the USA from being able to see this film. We are fighting for the right of the movie going public to have a choice here. Candy can set a precedent. The exhibitors are the ones most interested and important in our numbers. We have been cautioned off as writing or emailing or petitioning as fans at this point. We don't have the numbers yet to back ourselves up. We would blow it. We need to stand in solidarity.
This site ATTMC is not only a Heath site. This is a site that has members from every fan club and fan site for every person involved in this film. We have support here in Hollywood as well.
Please help us. All you have to do is register. If you want to post and participate that is fantastic, if you don't, that is perfectly fine. We won't push you. We are just so grateful for your registration. You have to register though because just visiting will not raise the numbers. They literally are watching the numbers, they have told me this straight up. We can make a change here!
Guys this is so serious, if we don’t do this, we don’t see the film unless you live in huge cities around the world and then for only about 2 weeks.
As fans, Heath has given us so much, this is the least we can do in return. It only takes a second.
We deserve a say in what films we have the opportunity to see! I personally am not content to just visit my favorite forums and listen to other people who were given the choice of seeing a Heath film tell me what it was about because some industry person decided that I don't have the right to see it for myself. So I end up only seeing it, eventually, on dvd. Way after the fact.
We can make or break this project. Please stand with us. We REALLY need you.

As a Heath fan I will support this campaign...I cannot believe that with all the hype Heath gor from BBM this is not being more advertised or even considered by the movie business.

Ok sounds great. First, I want to let you guys know that the purpose of giving prizes is a thanks. It's not for commercial reasons at all. We are asking for a lot of support and we want all of you to know that we appreciate you more than we can say. So it's not in any way a bribery thing it is all about thanking you. We are asking you for support and in return we want to show you how much you and that support mean to us. Several amazing gifts have been donated to me by the theater exhibitors, the studios and the executive producer of the film in their appreciation of our efforts and our belief in this film. They keep calling us the little train that could. They've been just precious.
Anyway, until I know where you guys think would be the best spot to put this for the entire forum, I'll put it here and ask that you please spread the word, or even feel free to move the post if you think that is best to a more appropriate space since I'm new to the forum.
The two original full size movie theater posters from opening night for Brokeback Mountain (12/9/05) have been donated to Addicted To The Movie Candy. I am going to give as a prize one of these posters to a randomly chosen Brokeback Mountain fan. ONLY fans from Brokeback Mountain sites and forums that register on the Addicted To The Movie Candy Support Forum will be eligible. No one else. These posters are not only movie memoribilia, but they are movie history. Treasured and taken care of, over time they will be of great value and will be able to be authenticated due to their size and who printed them as only the official studio posters were printed by this company.
To win you must register on the forum. If you wish to participate and support us further, naturally that is most welcome, however if you don't that is fine as well. We do not want to make anyone participate that doesn't wish to. We ask that you realize the forum is for fans from everywhere and every celebrity as the site is about protecting the rights of the public to have a voice in their right to at least have the choice to see a movie if they so choose. At this point that right is being taken away from us. Brokeback Mountain being the breakthrough that it was has opened the door for us by setting a prescedent in indie films and their importance to the world.
What you need to do is pm me either here or on the Candy forum and let me know that you are a BBM fan and what forum you are from in order to validate your registration in the contest. All names of these registrants will be printed out and we will cut strips with each having one registrants name on it. They will be put into a barrel, mixed up and a neutral party will reach in and pull out the name of one person who will be the winner.
Please bring as many BBM fans to this contest as possible. The exhibitors (who it is we have to prove our numbers to) are watching this forum very very carefully from around the entire world and what we do here will definitely influence their decision as to whether or not we will be seeing this film in our home towns and also as to whether or not we will have any choice in seeing future indie films that are of importance in our lives for any star. We are trying to get them to quit looking at the commercial and $ end of it and give these vitally important films a chance and your voice COUNTS. The BBM Oscar situation is what prompted me to start this campaign. We had no voice then, but as a result of the outrage it caused we certainly have a voice now. Please help us use it. It must be done through the ATTMC forum though as we are being recongized by the powers that be, there is safety and a bigger voice in numbers.

It is a great help and incentive -- having a book discussion group. It is always a richer experience, IMO.

We are incredibly excited about it. Can't wait! I can't tell you how much goes into a book discussion on line that includes time zones that are actually as much as a day and some odd hours apart. But we are determined to be together and get this done. LOL! It's been a great experience.

I'll check with the AMC and the Ex-Centris, they are about the only decent art theaters remaining here in Montreal, I'll send Emails to them.

Please don't do things as individuals. They have asked that we do it as the group ATTMC. They being the distributors. The individual theaters don't have a choice in getting the films, they are given the films they see by their distributor. A few emails are fine, but we need to be sure that we send from ATTMC. They have explained to us that they will not respond to en masse email. They say they don't have the manpower to do so. There is is safety in numbers and within an official group. ATTMC is a copyrighted official organization with it's roots in the entertainment industry and with insiders advising us so we have more chance of being heard if it goes throught the organization. They know us and have agreed to deal with us.

Sorry for the double post. I'm so thrilled to see Montreal here. We really need Canadians at ATTMC. There is no distribution set for your country yet. None at all. That being the case, I just started asking on the forum for Canadians to please pm me at ATTMC so we can start getting involved. I know who your distributor is and I have a relationship with them, the problem is you have no exhibitors as yet. We need to make that change ASAP. But I need your help. Please if you can spare just a few minutes a day, pm me at ATTMC and lets get Candy to Canada other than TIFF.

THINKfilm has just given us a definite release date of November 17, 2006. This frightens me as it is smack at the beginning of the holiday film season. I will not lie to you, my insider, who actually buys the films for for showing for one of the biggest film exhibitors in North America (the people we have to impress with our campaign) tells me in all honesty that they wish anyone but THINKfilm was distributing this film. THINK is very small and timid and they don't have a reputation in the exhibitors for properly presenting their films for distribution. This is such a shame and makes our job all the more important.
We have had a very difficult time understanding THINK's logic in this matter, however, when you can't get sensible answers, then you circumvent the problem and take the campaign in the appropriate direction on your own. This is by NO means a lost cause, that's not what I'm saying, but what I am saying is that it makes our work more vital for the survival of this very pertinent film.
We need numbers. Please go to everyone you know who will join that forum for you. Please. I so believe in this project that believe me I have no problem begging for your help.
You guys have been amazing, absolutely amazing.
We are starting our contact in the United Kingdom today with their distributor of the film and are moving forward in the fight to have the film distributed there as we have been made. It will open there on November 3, 2006.
If there is anyone here that is bi-lingual who would be willing to spend just a few minutes a day answering posts from international members, please pm me at ATTMC. Frog123 is taking care of the French speaking folks for me and Ingrid is taking care of the German speaking folks, but I am in need of Portuguese and Spanish and Italian at this point.
Any language skills in any language would be a blessing. This is a world wide campaign and though they can read the forum through our Babblefish package, some people have trouble writing English and are unable to ask their questions or post and participate. There's very little work to it really. Just a few minutes a day. Please let me know if you or someone you know might be willing to help us there.

I have to confess that I dont understand the gravity of the situation in terms of the date the film will be released in the US, but I understand from your post Theresa that all is not lost, and we just need to keep at it. I wish I could speak a different language to help, but sadly I dont. I am sure you will get the support you need regarding this from people on this great forum.

Thank you so much Christie, and you made a great point that is one of the wonderful things about ATTMC. We are international and it's not all about the USA. Boy am I glad too. LOL. Don't get me wrong but the industry here is a very cutthroat one. In the USA there are 2 huge movie seasons. The summer and Holiday/Christmas films. When a small film is released during these time periods it often gets crushed or pushed aside. Especially at the holiday season. This is when they will release all the big Harry Potter type things and things that they are putting up for Oscar contention. The powers that be will publicize ruthlessly and the exhibitors will go for the films with the big money because of the $$$$ factor. BBM showed this can be done, but it is an uphill battle. This is the biggest season of the year for films in the USA. So it makes our battle much harder.
But are we giving in? Heck no! We'll just get us one of those oscars instead. We'll let Heath get the one he should have gotten last year. That's how we'll approach it and we'll double our efforts. As a matter of fact I've already put the wheels in motion. And you guys can help. Speaking another language isn't the key. It is helpful but only on one front. We have many other vitally important fronts that need to be covered.
First I'm really proud to say we now have an interpreter for Dutch and Spanish though I could still use a spanish helper if anyone wants to help.
But we are now going to start blogs in other languages as well to get the word out. Also, I am adding contests. As I told you guys earlier, the powers that be have been very generous in their support and they have given me other prizes to offer. We will start a contest today where I will give an original, displayed in the theater for the entire run, full theater size Johnny Depp Libertine poster. This poster is very valuable as this was a very controversial film that was brilliant and in limited release. Official actual posters are incredibly rare. To win the poster the contestant needs to write an essay which can be a paragraph to a page, telling what movie has meant the most to them and why. We are not looking for something that is written like it was written by Shakespear, we want something heartfelt and honest. Don't worry about punctuation and spelling and big words unless you are comfortable with them as that is not what we care about. All contestants must be registered members of the ATTMC forum. If you have friends who are Johnny Depp fans, I would strongly suggest you let them know because as his fans they will tell you this is a very very valuable piece of memoriabilia to them. Again this is an original not a copy and not something you can just buy on ebay.
The entries will be read by an independent panel and the winner chosen from them.
We have many more things going on and we are going to be contacting many more industry people in the next week to two weeks as well.
We are also going to be getting headlong into our UK campaign.

I would scan them if I could but I can't, they are as big as a theater shadow box. We're talking huge! Enormous.
I received 9 different posters only two are BBM and you should have seen the box. It was one of those triangular cardboard boxes that is about 3 1/2 feet or taller. Just huge. It was kind of funny because my daughter carried it in and she's only 5 feet tall.

A standard double-sided format of the BBM poster was selling for 150.00 - 200.00 USD in January. These offered were actually used for the LA Premiere, correct? They should be incentive enough!

I was at that opening. And let me tell you it was an event I will remember the rest of my life for many many reasons, not just the movie but the love and the atmosphere and the things that I witnessed as a straight woman of 51 there with my best friend in life a 52 year old gay man. I witnessed such love, such pain, such relating, tears of release of burden from people left totally bereft from the experiences of their lives that they were now able to start to let go of and give some closure to, who had experienced this in their lives that they were totally bereft and sobbing. I was totally and completely changed that night. It was one of the great privileges of my life to be there.

I have been advised by a movie memoriabilia expert here in Hollywood that due to the incredible condition of this poster that its value at the moment is between $275 and $300.

I think thats a great idea. It will give fans of other BBM actors a chance to help support Candy, and they may not know about it otherwise. We still have the Candy thread here to discuss all things about the film.

There's a ton of info on it for you on the forum, but it is about two heroin addicts who are in love with each other (a poet in love with a girl named Candy played by Heath) and the drug heroin (also known as Candy). It's absolutely amazing. We are having an online disucssion of the book every other weekend as well. Incredible story.

If we could leave it here folks might realize this is a totally different contest. There are tons of contests but there are two that include BBM. One is the poster and one is the autographed pic. I was afraid they would think this was for the poster and it is a totally different contest. This one only requires that you register on the forum. Easy as pie and the odds are very good on it at this point.

I was just talking to the executive producer of the film this afternoon. He had just been to the site and was amazed at how much it has grown. The main site is now accessed through http://www.candythemovie2006.com and the blog through addictedtothemoviecandy.com.
Actually we had both all along but I didn't build the site and the lady who did redirected the candy the movie url and the search engines wouldn't accept it so I had to separate them a few days ago. They will be linked by a button now. I am in the process of rebuilding the new site and have we will have a brand new PHPnuke website. We'll have the same forum (though I'm not crazy for that type of forum, it's not so easily searched but I don't want to ask everyone to re-register on a new one) but the site itself will be a self contained PHPNuke site.
So we're growing and moving along.

This would be an exquisite prize for the discerning film lover! :)
I have today received an absolutely gorgeous copy of Candy from Luke Davies which he has autographed and dated. This is the absolute newest version and is the definitive version which is the Australian version (parts were left out of the American version) and is the only one that sports the insignia Now A Major New Film on the front and a picture of Heath and Abbie on the back. It also sports a beautiful new photo of Luke on the inside cover. He signed and dated the book on the flypage. It is really really a gorgeous book and a treasure. This book was sent to me by him along with a gift from him for me for me to use it as a prize in a contest to help the forum. I haven't decided the contest yet, But will know what it will be in the next day or two. I'm going through several ideas in my mind as to what we could do for a contest that would be most beneficial for the film and the ATTMC website, but definitely wanted my loved ones here to know they are included.

The new Nuke site is up and going along with the newest gallery which is now totally independent and belongs completely to ATTMC which means that finally ATTMC is completely on its own and standing on its own two feet, no one is sponsoring it anymore it is its own entity now.

GUYS WE NEED YOU. I'm going to be straight up with you. No one is supporting us. We tried to make everyone understand that this was a long project and that we desperately needed their committment through until the middle of December and they swore to us they were with us. They were so dedicated they said, but guys they have quit participating. We are continuing our work and making a difference every single day, but think what we could do if we had our people back. We need that petition signed and out by October 5. If there are less than 1000 signatures I can't even send it in the USA as it won't help, however I will proudly send it around the world to our other exhibitors. I guess maybe I'm a little stunned by the giving up of the Heath fans from around the world. I'm hurt and shocked. But it won't stop me or the others who have worked so tirelessly on the project. However, we aren't going to make the difference we are able to make and that we were making a little earlier if folks won't join it. I love you all dearly and will let you know about the book contest as soon as possible.
Please help others around the world see this film even if you don't want to see it. This is a fight for the right to have the basic human right of choice.
