Annie Proulx, along with six other writers, one composer, one architect, and one artist was elected to The American Academy of Arts and Letters on 27 March 2007.

They recognized the writer, I'm OK since they named the book... there's something on this forum about some folks working on Annie's getting the Nobel Prize  :s)  I have to do some search but after reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez novels, for example, Annie is a good choice.  :)
