I noticed at the end when ennis was in the caravan alone after his daughter drove off he held her jumper up motioning that she forgot it...and he put it in the wardrobe then looked at the shirts...in a way his own love for his daughter the way Jake or jack loved him...

I would think that he will keep Jr.'s sweater until there would be a time to give it back to her -- perhaps on some future visit.  This must be a possibility since I would expect Jr. to see more of Ennis before the wedding.

Jack's bloodied shirt is for keeps.  Ennis will love him forever.

yes he would give it her back...but it was interesting in the pattern repeating...also I thought it was Ennis bloody shirt from when they had the fight...or am I wrong...

He has the two shirts -- Jack's blue one, and Ennis's white one.   Both are certainly for keeps.

i remember that when they went back from BBM, Ennis told Jack that he left his shirt on the mountain.  thus, one is Ennis's for sure.
and it touch my heart to see that Jack covered the white one with the blue one.  i interprete that as the 'forever hug and love' of Jack for Ennis.

ah yes, a great observation which I agree with....but even so, I think it would be wonderful if Ennis were to keep her sweater for himself....as a reminder, as 'a part' of his daughter to have with him forever. and I have to mention this: kissing the sweater was such a lovely touch to the whole scene, don't you think? it just showed you how much ennis truly cares and what a loving daddy he really is.

yes, and did you notice that Ennis did the opposite- he put Jack's shirt inside his own.....as a 'forever hug&love' as you said it, to Jack....an amazing touch also....

yes, Koka, that was what Ennis really wanted from that moment on.  Jack by then was in Ennis' heart (shirt).  so romantic?

i feel Ennis chose to be by himself because there was no one he could love more than Jack.  so, he wouldn't go to his daughter's wedding.  and for why Ennis kept, i think so with you that the sweter as a part of his daughter to have with him forever.  the daughter whom he loved so much.

if i'm not wrong, Ennis had two babies.  there is not much to talk about the other.

no...I think when he decided that work could wait that his daughter was getting married that he knew he would go to the wedding...because he put work first before and it pushed him further away from jack...so he realised that people matter before other worldly things....

and all this regardless of the family problems...the love would overcome it all and this was like a seed from jack for ennis own life to love more....and be more appreciative of people close to him or you...etc...

I look back in my own life and the sadness from this film makes me look back to people I have lost and whom I never cared for that much but now I am left with memories and yes pain and it hurts....this is why the film affected me for my own life but also I loved those characters Jack and Ennis....how I wished I could have been with them...lol

Ennis does the exact gesture with Jr's  sweater, as , when he founds the two shirts in Jack's closet,a kiss and a sniff,it's so incredibly touching ..heart wrenching..
as I'm in tears already at that point, here, is exactly where I start to sob uncontrollably :-[ :\'(
