My favourite scene (both in the Movie and in the short stoy) is :
"What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger.[...] Later, that dozy embrace solidified in his memory as the single moment of artless, charmed happiness in their separate and difficult lives. Nothing marred it, even the knowledge that Ennis would not then embrace him face to face because he did not want to see or feel that it was Jack he held. all of you well remember what happens where I make the [...]....maybe it's just 'cause it happened after the poignant moment "I wish I knew how to quit you" and "Get the f*** off me! I have several "favorite" scenes in the movie but I have broken them down into categories; funniest, saddest, etc. The flashback scene you describe is my favorite also. All the love and affection we saw in that scene came from Ennis and it was not solicited by Jack. Jack was just standing there, not talking, not moving, not doing anything that would make Ennis react. Everything was from Ennis' heart...it was HIS doing. And then, the look of love in Jack's eyes as Ennis rode away. The whole thing just melted me.
Oh to be held and loved like that....a dream we all have I think.

Their importance to each other could not be better represented than with this scene which shows with Ennis' initiative and Jack's look of adoration, undeniable emotions of care, embrace, and total trust

This is always a difficult scene to contemplate.  Favorite or not, this is the most moving scene in BBM, IMO.

This is always a difficult scene to contemplate.  Favorite or not, this is the most moving scene in BBM, IMO.

The postcard/two shirts ending is the most moving, or the SNIT. I love the flashback scene, but i wish it was done just a tad bit better/longer. I love it, but it isn't as good as the book version IMO.  :\'(

Another one for me... I think it's perfect the " Jack, I swear " scene...both in the movie and in the short story even in this case...I guess at last " Jack, I swear " were the only answer to Jack "Ya know it could be like this, just like this always." The Perfect end of the story,don't you? Not "I love you" , Jack knew this, as Ennis knew Jack were fall in love with him...the only thing he had to get were: they'd to be together as the Ennis' shirt inside Jack’s one ... But it's too late...damn you Ennis !!

Actually, I was referring to the fight in the last meeting, including the flashback scene.

To me, the most visually (and perhaps musically) beautiful scenes were the ones when they were ascending up the mountain.But although they also tug strongly at the heartstrings, I agree with BBBOY that identifying the most emotionally moving scene is much too difficult, as the emotions we feel in one scene is really strongly interconnected with other related scenes.

I hope it never comes to that. I mean that I would hope to always understand the magnitude and bliss of love as well as the sheer torment of losing someone who means so much to me. If I ever can simply dismiss the messages and emotions this film demonstrates, what would have become of my existence?

this is my 2nd fav. scene.

1) Reunion scene-very aggressive, but also very smooth and expressive. Just beautiful
2) the 'warm embrace'-its too sad, that Jack is later pronounced dead, and that all he wanted was Ennis to hold him
3) The tent scene (not the sex scene, but the other one)- emotional, and tragic, Ennis steals the scene with his longing

I agree. It's a demonstration of the depth of the connection between them, established that first summer and continuing for the rest of their lives. It's clearly not about desire or lust or whatever - her eit's simply about caring and affection. Ennis looks as if he's trying to protect Jack, which, in the end, he couldn't do.

now that you've said that, it makes sense. Another 'important organ other than the heart' of the movie is the SNIT. That scene i prefer to the flashback scene, but i agree in a way it is the heart of the film. Read the SS, its arguably the best written section in the entire book, and Annie said it was hard....

and one more scene that tells the whole movie in seconds is the postcard/two shirts scene (the new offical name for the ending)

We can draw a distinction between favorite light-hearted scenes, visually beautiful scenes, and those scenes that move us the most.  Jack re-enacting the rodeo is a light-hearted scene that I find so easy to watch.  I catch myself wishing that the some of the beautiful scenes on BBM were longer.  And of course, the Dozy Embrace perhaps moves me the most.

I could say that any one of these scenes -- each in a very different sense -- is a favorite.   Some are easier to watch than others.

I am not sure if this is my favorite scene.  But I am sure that I consider this scene to be the heart of the entire movie.

This is my favorite scene of the entire movie because it's both sweet and sad at the same time.  I love the postcard/two shirt scene also, but it's just plain too sad.  To me both these scenes are the heart and soul of the entire movie.  One is Jack's point of view, the other is of Ennis'.
