A lot of the "teeny-gory" movies try to do this, BTW.  ;)

That is beyond true... The Jason movies in the past often did this... They'd be in the tent "I need to go to the bathroom..." Then the chick ends up being slapped against a freaking tree... Yeah how fun, they get done doing something, and the chick gets a tree slap.  ???

OMG that's so true! ;D (Not in my case though!!) :)
I can't stand torture movies! But I do like horror movies ::)

I believe they should have another rating above R, not NC-17 but something inbetween for gory movies like House of Wax or
The Strangers (Which I LOVE  ;D)

The strangers was an interesting movie.

There was a rating above R, but they changed it... It was apparently "X" but they reassigned it to either R or NC-17...

And I personally think it is better this way.  People differ on what they think is an ideal sex scene.  Had they shown everything, it may have disappointed as many people as there are who liked what was shown.  But the way they did it, everyone is free to insert in his/her mind the ideal scene according to personal taste.

My feelings exactly.  O0

Thanks friends.

I do think that the sex scnes in BBM are for a much more mature audience, not because they are explicit -- but because they conveyed much more than just the sex.

And yes, movies like the Friday the 13th series have a formulatic sameness about them.  They seem to work for the target audience, nonetheless!

Exactly ¡.Maybe if they have been more explicit, people would have been more prepared to watch it; as a matter of fact,it would have fallen into the denomination of "gay movies" more or less XXX...But not everybody is so prepared emotionally as to watch some real love scenes between two men,no matter how explicit they are...
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

These scenes much more erotic than sexy, if you get the distinction?  For me, eroticism is much more delicious than outright explicitness...

That's true ¡.But,even in this case, not everybody is willing to watch them being between two same sex persons; for them,it's easier to watch porno.I think it made them feeling better than accept that there can be a real love between them...

I get the distinction.  For some people, raw sex is easier to deal with than raw emotion.  For them, sentimentality is easy to dismiss with a laugh, but true feeling makes them uncomfortable.  It's like the old rule of "don't kiss" in adult entertainment -- a rule that has more than just hygiene for a reason.

Exact¡ And I'd say that this happens the most with homosexual sex/love,and maybe more still with lesbian sex/love.It's easier for them to get excited with two girls making love than with two girls feeling love. This is easy, very easy to see,you don't have to understand anything; but coming to terms with same sex emotions and feelings is for them a further step they aren't willing to do.

Maybe the reason for guys is that - when 2 girls make love there's always a chance for them to jump in.

And when 2 girls love each other, they have no chance to get some...! Makes sense?

Sex (or the pleasure arising from it) is easier to fake than emotions.  What makes the BBM "sexy" scenes different is that it's clearly not just about the sex.  Since very little is really explicity revealed/shown, I would even say that (explicit) sex was not the major reason for the scenes being shown at all.

That's right. And for the viewers that's pretty much obvious, but for Ennis it became clear only in the end. So much love and tenderness they shared, but he thought that it was "a thing", a lust and pure sex. Wrong Ennis! WRONG!  :(

Yikes do you think that he only saw their relationship like that? Lust and pure sex? OMG, I hope that he didn't think of their relationship like that! :(

Oh, maybe was too harsh on Ennis again, but after the motel scene, when Jack proposed the sweet life to him, he said - If this thing grab all over us in the wrong place.... That was in my mind when I wrote that. He only knew that something uncontrollable is "holding them". It is only after the shirt scene when he understood that it was love! Until then he wasn't able to admit that he actually loved another man.

Damn! Again!  :\'(

I do think you were onto something, no matter how sad it was to admit... I mean Ennis probably did think of it as something that was lust and so on... but like you said, until the shirt scene, and you can see this, when Ennis finds the shirts his face shows his realization and when I picture it, I get really emotional. If only it didn't take the shirts to see what Jack had for him, if only he had realized it...

Well, I think a part of him wanted to believe that, but that was just because he was afraid to face how he truly felt.  Ennis I think didn't just look at it as sex from the beginning -- in spite of of his fears wanting him to dismiss his feelings and think of it as just sex.

Yes, tpe! You said it much better than I did  -part of him wanted to believe that. But his POV of their relationship remains more or less undefined till the end - till the moment he asks Jr. -Does he love you? and then looks through the window floating away with his mind to Brokeback and to the one he loved. Just then it is clear that Ennis knows and accepts - he really and deeply loved Jack!

Until that moment his opinion about two of them is pretty unclear, don't you think?

I think the way he felt about Jack was clear to him.  It's just that he was conditioned to think that it was wrong, and that hje couldn't accept that his own feelings and the conditioning could be at odds.

I also believe he knew he loved Jack and that Jack loved him too; but something inside him denied this, and made him believe it was wrong, something to hide and even,to keep away from him.If he hadn't loved Jack and if he hadn't known it,things had been easier and not so many "no" had been born from Ennis lips and mind, and also and mainly, from his heart...

Maybe!

Their relationship was so beautiful, yet so complicated, they were so happy together, yet so sad for those moments were few...
I don't know, I am just so devastated sometimes... maybe he knew, still he was far to complicated man to deal with... :(

Well, I don't think he knew how much Jack loved him.  But the attraction was pretty plain, and I am sure that Ennis initially  took his own attraction for Jack as something that will pass, and not deep love.

Well, this is almost another way of saying what I wrote in the last post.

I think that at this point, it was clear that one was in love with the other, but love certainly has its different levels.  I would say that at this point, what they felt deep inside is something like first love, or intuitive love.  It is different from the love that grows in time.  But THAT kind of love needs to put roots initially...

But isn't it truth that just at the end he was fully aware of everything? I believe that had he known that it was love, deep, strong, everlasting... he would've take his chances no matter "whut"!!! I believe that in his mind things have never got clear until the end.  :\'(
