Hello everyone,

My name is Loretta. I am a new member and this is my first post. I am a heterosexual female, but Brokeback Mountain had a profound affect on me…for lots of reasons and on many levels. The first time I saw the movie I sobbed uncontrollably…the second time my eyes remained dry, but I was left with a clenching in my chest that I could not loosen............. I am absolutely devastated by the news. We have lost an actor with integrity...a very rare thing these days. His performance as Ennis has affected me like no other in my lifetime. . I am going though my days with a lump in my throat, a pain in my heart and a whole in my spirit.

Hi Loretta,

I could have written your words above-we have a lot in common there. Beautiful songs you have on your site! (I am in NJ, too).  Take care! :)

FlowerChild, thanks so much.  That either we felt we were meant to cross paths, or that we just believe it happened on its own, that, too, may
not matter.  We're actually getting through this, and it's love that's getting us through.  And that love was in him, and in us.  We'll be all right.
More or less.  And yet, without being paralyzed by grief, and living our lives, as we have to, we take him with us.  He ain't going nowhere.  Can't.
He's a part of us now.

Carby that is a wonderful tribute to Heath.
Aren't we at the stage these days when it just doesn't ... matter? It's a story of love and it's a story between two people. If people can't get over that and just accept it as a story, then that's their problem. I'm big enough and brave enough to do it. - Heath Ledger on doing BBM

Oh wow, so many amazing posts here today.  Keren, you know I feel your pain, honey, and wish I could be with you to ease it and make the pain go away.  Know I'm always here for you.  ^f^

carby, what an amazing tribute to Heath, I'm speechless!  What a wonderful thing to do.   ^f^

I love this thread, for allowing us to speak freely from the heart how Heath has affected us, and how he continues to do so.  I'll never forget him. It's still hard to accept he's gone.  I wish it wasn't true.   :\'( :\'( :\'(

Oh my...I've been reading through some posts here today and I'm overwhelmed. I finally got to cry those tears that have been brimming in my eyes since I heard the news about Heath. I keep telling myself that I have taken this too hard...that it's not rational...it shouldn't affect me so strongly. But it has and that is just the way it is.

I attempted to join in on another forum, but the posts are so fast and furious there that someone "new" seems to get lost in the shuffle of conversations. I posted my song link there and hardly had a response...and today I found you all by accident and within a few hours you have not only listened to my song, but have taken the time to respond. I am moved and grateful. I so want to honor Heath somehow, and right now that is the only way I know how.

jerasjr, jackster, msmare, flwrchild, cowgirlkt -- Thank you so much. (Sorry if I missed anyone!)  I have read so many heartfelt and incredibly wonderful posts here. I wish I could remember all your names and respond individually. I hope to get to know you better.

Again...thank you so much,
Loretta

Hi Everybody, I'm french, and when I knew about Heath's passing, I was so sad, sorrow invaded me. He is my favourite actor since Brokeback Mountain. I delivered a tribute to http://the-drawtistik.skyrock.com/ and, and made a video in tribute to Heath Ledger :
This afternoon, I went to Notre Dame de Paris, and I prayed for his soul, and told him how he was such a good person. He is gone now, but he will always shine in my heart.
He was so loved, adored, that his passing shocked the whole world.
Now, he is The Joker, and now, he is a legend, as James Dean, or other amazing actors.
A little bit of Brokeback within my heart. Brokeback Mountain is like a secret garden to me now...

Loretta. when someone moves us as Heath did we all try to show it in different ways, some write beautiful poems in tribute, some write wonderful fan fiction from the inspiration they get from that person, some create the varied and moving music videos found here, using familiar and favourite songs mixed with the moving images from the wonderful piece of work that is BBM, some members scour the net and magazines for new and favourite images of the cast to share with their friends here. Some play games, tell jokes and some just say hi.

Some do none of this, but still come here regularly to offer friendship, advice, comfort and even love. Each and every one of us has been moved by this movie to offer part of ourselves in thanks to promote a feeling of oneness in a world which more and more tries to separate those who do not fit the mould.

You have written a beautiful song and I thank you for sharing it with us all. I hope you spend many a day with us all and get time to share all your thoughts and passions with us. Hopefully we will not be as fast as the other forum you visited.

Guilliame, a big big welcome to you as well.  :ghug:

My plates came in the mail today. I braved the below freezing weather and hurricane force winds to put them on my car. Here's a crappy phone pic:

Excuse my dirty car. It's been snowy.

What a wonderful way to honor Heath!  I see your from Ohio, I am too and your right it's freezing here today

Just few french words I've done for Ennis to Jack, but now it's better to say "for Jack to Ennis"

mikele, thank you for these beautiful words. I took the liberty to translate them with the help of Google Translate, to share them with our friends. Please forgive me if I mangled any words, and please correct me.

O from that day, I realized that even the sun had lost its lustre, that nothing would be like before, the softness of your face so dear to my heart seemed already fading, everything around me no longer important. I wanted to shout my despair hoarse, let out my tears like mountain wind, but yet it is each time a fresh image of the past and furtive came upon my memory. A sense of infinite loneliness overwhelms me every day, at every moment, but the best of you is entrenched in me, and welded forever in my heart. I know now that you are at my side Ennis, I find that when you are kneeling there to get up, and your breath, the smell of your skin, your caresses, I still feel, I sometimes hear your voice as a breeze that carry from peaks to the plains and leap into my soul with a fresh feeling of love finally finding Ennis ... I will always be there, I always need that ,.... Need you.
Merci, mon ami.

Originally posted on an Australian site.  I take it as quoted from the Heath Memorial Thread on IHJ:

I snatched this from an Australian blog, made me cry, and it is the most wonderful piece of work that I have ever read:

Is it right to grieve for someone never known.
Is it right to cry for someone never touched.
Is it right to mourn for someone never kissed.
Is it ok to feel sorrow for one not spoken to.
Is it ok to feel loss for one never seen.
Is it ok to be devastated for one taken from us.
Heath has a smile that makes me smile.
Heath has a voice that makes me listen.
Heath has a heart that makes me love.
For a smile I'll never see
For a voice I'll never hear
For a heart I'll never love.
For a soul so pure
And a beauty so perfect
For a talent so rare.

I'm grieving and crying
I'm mourning, feel lost.
A special heart, a good man
A knight and a legend.
Taken from us too early
When will this pain of losing you heal.
I'll miss you Heath.
Rest in Peace Sweetheart.

------------------------------

Thank you, tpe. I really like this, especially the part I bolded. ... the smile, the voice, the heart, the soul, the beauty, the talent ... someone said Heath was a rare acting talent that comes maybe once every 20 years. I say Heath was a rare human being that comes along may be once in a life time. I am glad I was privileged to be a witness to his glory, to his love, to his work, and what is most amazing of all, his humility and grounded root in his common-man image of himself. We call him prince, legend, but Heath would blush and distract us with his smile, his fidgeting and change the subject. His humility, above all else, reminds me of Ennis. Perhaps I should say, Ennis' humility came from Heath.

When will this pain of losing you heal?

I don't know, and I stopped caring about it.
As long as I have Heath in my heart, that's all that matters now.
Heath, you are loved, like this, always.

Quoted from Tony:

Even so, these days, I have stuck by my admittedly strange belief that some of us were meant to cross paths, for whatever reason,
have said, again and again, there's more to life than we can understand, and that Heath was meant to cross our paths in life.

Tony, I believe this strongly myself, and also believe it about Heath. We were lucky, but perhaps also chosen, to be the recipients of his gifts, to be the generation that discovered Brokeback Mountain, and I fully believe I was meant to come here and meet the people I've met.

So was your experience just an odd happenstance or part of something bigger? As you said, it doesn't matter. But, like you, I keep my mind open.

And since BBM was in many ways about opening people's minds, I guess it means in some ways we've come full circle. :ghug:

Tony, FlwrChild, thank you for this. I also think that the many like-minded people in this forum are meant to find each other. It is an amazing gift from Heath, for his sensitive soul was the beacon that guided us to this forum. His life was full of serendipity, like I just read that his friend Wes Bently from the "Four Feathers" movie, asked him to take over the role of Sonny in "Monster's Ball". Without that role, who knew what Larry McMurtry would have thought. Diana Ossana would still choose Heath, but sometimes every little bit helps. And his meeting Adam Sutton in "Ned Kelly" inspired his portrayal of Ennis. All his life, Heath kept an open mind to allow life's serendipitous moment to turn on a dime, with every person he met. No wonder so many people who met him had nothing but praise. It must be a wonderful experience, to be embraced, not just physically, but spiritually by someone so intelligent, so kind, so perceptive. The more I know Heath, the deeper the love, and paradoxically, the more bittersweet the grief...a sadder yearning, missing him, but also a sweeter remembrance...

Thanks for this.

Heath,

You always gave your 'ALL'...
to every movie you made.

And it showed.

Your work in BM was one of the best I've ever seen.
It touched me deeply.
I always thought it so unfair that you did not win the oscar that year...

You will certainly be missed...

Kathy: That music from the BBM trailer is "End Title" from the movie Shawshank Redemption (a good watch) composed by Thomas Newman. It is availalble on iTunes. Ethan please correct me if wrong.

jackster is right. I think it is more well known as the BBM trailer music. I didn't realize that it was the same piece used in SAG "in memoriam" segment. Perhaps it was chosen on purpose?

Hello Brokies...

Today my post is short. This post is actually asking any Brokies who have any information if it is still ok and possible to go to SoHo and to Heath's apartment to put flowers and letters. Please, if anyone has any information about this, please PM me.
I have also noticed new members who have come to ennisjack.com and I am happy that they have come to join us in this time of greif...Welcome everyone  :ghug:

Seems like there are 3 of us, Loretta and msmare....I have felt this same way since I saw BBM back in May of '06.  It has given movies a higher standard...there has never been a movie that has moved me as much as BBM has.  Btw, I'm in NJ too, and REALLY close to where you are Loretta lol

Oh God I understand you so well... I had a hard talk with my sister yesterday. A part of why it was so hard for me was because she just really doesn't understand at all why I am so affected by the death of "an actor I didn't even know" (and I hate it when people say that to me) and she couldn't understand my fascination with him when he was alive either. I felt like she was looking down on me or criticising me for it, and I just couldn't find the words to explain to her what he means to me. I felt bad and hurt when she reffered to him as "a movie star" and kept reminding me that I didn't know him and he certainly didn't know me.
...
But I guess some things you just can't explain.

So beautiful, your words, Karen.  I feel everything you said, how Heath gave us Ennis and what Ennis means to us...and our very real grief.  At first he was only Ennis to me, also, but I am very glad that I found myself becoming a fan of Heath's, because as you said, the more I knew about him, the more I loved him.  Almost unbearable (yet bear it we must) that we don't get to follow a brilliant career as we know his would have been.

You're welcome, Loretta.  :)

It is nice to meet you, LuvHeath4ever! I am thrilled we have found this place.

I am slowly making my way through here, and to all of you who are here, thanks for making me feel like I am home already. I FINALLY found a place to come to and with all that is happening now, it is so very comforting. I am reading a lot more than I am posting now and it has been wonderful. Eventually, I will come out of my shell, but thanks to all for letting me just BE here. It means more than I can say. :ghug:

Heath, you are in the hearts of so many. I know that you know that.

Hello everyone,

My name is Loretta. I am a new member and this is my first post. I am a heterosexual female, but Brokeback Mountain had a profound affect on me…for lots of reasons and on many levels. The first time I saw the movie I sobbed uncontrollably…the second time my eyes remained dry, but I was left with a clenching in my chest that I could not loosen. It was then that – hoping to purge some of the heartache – I wrote a poem called “Jack, I Swear”. It remained a poem for almost 2 years until a good friend wrote some music. I went to Nashville in early December and had it recorded as a demo (sung by my co-writer.) It was written in honor of Brokeback Mountain, Heath and Jake for playing those parts so beautifully, 2 of my very dear gay friends and for equality for everyone. I would love everyone here to hear it as my special tribute to Heath Ledger at this incredibly sad time. I am absolutely devastated by the news. We have lost an actor with integrity...a very rare thing these days. His performance as Ennis has affected me like no other in my lifetime. . I am going though my days with a lump in my throat, a pain in my heart and a whole in my spirit.

Anyway...if you’d like to listen, you can hear it uploaded on:

http://www.myspace.com/ret4  -- and it is set as the first song to auto play.

This isn't about promoting a song -- it never was from the start -- It's more about promoting change and touching hearts. I hope Heath can hear it and knows just how much his performance as Ennis has meant to so many people. He changed minds and hearts -- not to mention lives.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you’ll listen.

Loretta, thank you so much!  I love this, and it's so wonderful that you actually made it to the recording studio!  From a poem, from a clenched-up broken heart from a movie...

I love the harmony parts, and both your and Steve's voices, and I love the instruments, especially the violin.
Could you post the lyrics?

I look forward to listening to the other recordings also.

A big welcome...

kathy
