God bless you Ethan. I can only imagine how hard it must have been.  :ghug:  :^^)
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Ennis, riding against the wind back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken darken light, thought he'd never had such a good time, felt he could paw the white out of the moon.

You are welcome.  :ghug: :ghug: How I wish I didn't have this opportunity. It is the least thing I can do.

Thanks again for giving me the strength. I am proud of this forum for the love and support we have given each other.

Dear Brokies,

This afternoon I had the privilege to go to the apartment and paid our tribute and respect to Mr. Heath Ledger. As soon as I got off the subway station a few blocks away, my heart was so aching and my tears could not stop. Every step was the hardest I had ever experienced in my life and my body was shaking. Until then when I laid the flowers, I was hit by the reality and realized what had happened.

Thank you for being with me and giving me the strength to do it on behalf of this most wonderful community. My eyes have been dried and then are wet again. I ask myself why we have to go through this? We mourn the death of Jack from the movie and now we mourn the death of Heath from the real life. For them, we are stronger and become better people in honoring Jack and Heath.

We are now even closer to Heath and forever grateful for what he has given us. :\'(  :ghug: :ghug: to everyone of you. My heart and thoughts are with you.

Ethan

Thank you so much.  It's still so difficult to accept that Heath is gone.

I have not been here in a very long time as my life has been so busy and taken some turns....and I was so glad to see the site was still here like an old friend.

I found out almost immediately about Heath from my best friend. I was training here at my home office and I couldn't go on, I had to call people--just felt the need to reach out. I think this also hit home because I am on some of the same medications as Heath (I have known about his meds for some time--but that's another story)--and I know what it's like to have anxiety and not be able to sleep--I feel his pain, that is fortunately now gone.

Life is short for all of us--just think about all the other people who died at a young age yesterday as well (and every day) but none of them are on TV nor are we speculating about their deaths. I think the "big picture" is what we all need to see; and I think we will. I know a lot of us here have somewhat difficult lives and sometimes life just seems like an endless string of Tuesdays--every day just the same.

Maybe now is the time for us all to try to do something fantastic in our lives? I have an extreme need to do something out of character or maybe a little bit scary (and to me just about everything is scary). Perhaps this horrible tragedy will help us all to live life more to the fullest and maybe stop being so afraid of situations, people, predjudice, etc. If Heath can give just one of us a gift that helps us to live a better life then there is no question that he will look down on the world and be happy.

In sincere love and gratitude,
Christina

Everyone has a personal way of handling grief.  Some weep, some shout, some go grim and silent, and each reaction is valid and appropriate.

For me, I write.  It's how I handle most of the emotions that assault me in my life.  I write, between bouts of weeping and shouting.

So here is my method for venting, and I hope it does not offend anyone.  It's all I know how to do.

In Mourning

It was just another Tuesday,
And it was raining somewhere.
The clouds were dark and roiling,
And the coffee water, boiling.
Were you so forgotten there?

Did you stand there at the window?
Were there children in the rain?
Did you hear their playful song,
Rising bright and sweet and strong?
Were you overcome with pain?

The sun must be shining somewhere,
In this place where you are not.
All the golden promise lost,
Can we even know the cost?
Find the why, the how, the what?

While the night is full of wonder,
Liquid silver pools of light,
For each single one that fails,
A spark of primal brilliance pales,
Takes one candle from the night.

And we sit here in the silence,
In the place where you belong,
Speaking softly of good-byes,
Recalling tender sable eyes
And sweet laughter like a song.

Now the world is growing darker
And the night is growing cold,
And the empty silence lingers
Wrapping hearts with icy fingers.
As the funeral bell is tolled.

So the prince has left the stage;
Strangers watch him go and sigh.
And the world spins right along,
But there is no mourning song,
Save the one that weeps “Good-bye.”

FINI

Cynical21, your poems are always moving and touching, aiming straight at the core of your theme. No one can find offense at you. They may regret being touched, being moved, but that is the price of sublime beauty. Without pain, we can hardly learn to live.

Thank you for that last stanza. The prince has indeed left the stage. And I suspect, the world will pause a little, yet, to sigh, to mourn, the loss of a great talent, the like we may never see again.

A man of such sensitivity
yet strong in character
and gentle in all his grace

A prince among men
whose vision of the world unseen
shines a beacon for us to follow

A star is born in heaven
whose light will guide us
from here to eternity

I for one will always remember
the prince who played a rogue, a knight, a ranch hand
a patriot, an addict, a son, a father, a man

 :ghug:
Heath, you are loved, like this, always.

If I Had Only Known

If I had only known
It was the last walk in the rain
I'd keep you out for hours in the storm
I would hold your hand
Like a lifeline to my heart
Underneath the thunder we'd be warm
If I had only known
It was our last walk in the rain

If I had only known
I'd never hear your voice again
I'd memorize each thing you ever said
And on those lonely nights
I could think of them once more
Keep your words alive inside my head
If I had only know
I'd never hear your voice again

You were the treasure in my hand
You were the one who always stood beside me
So unaware I foolishly believed
That you would always be there
But then there came a day
And I turned my head and you slipped away

If I had only known
It was my last night by your side
I'd pray a miracle would stop the dawn
And when you'd smile at me
I would look into your eyes
And make sure you knew my love
For you goes on and on
If I had only known
If I had only known
The love I would've shown
If I had only known

I think it´s a song by Trisha Yearwood,a kind of requiem.Whatever it be,it´s suitable for this situation.

Gracias, myprivatejack. This is beautiful and appropriate. I was thinking of the same thing, and the song, if tomorrow never comes. If I'd only known, I'd have sent him a Christmas card, a letter, to thank him for the gift of a life changing movie, a role that personify so much meaning, so much love.  :\'(

"If Tomorrow Never Comes"

Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She's lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

'Cause I've lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there's no second chance to tell her how I feel

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

So tell that someone that you love
Just what you're thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

 :ghug:
Heath, you are loved, like this, always.

This poem was read by the rabbi who officiated at my mom's funeral  it gave me some comfort I hope it might offer all of us some at well

Do Not Stand by my Grave and Weep  by Mary Elizabeth Frye
An early version, printed by others on postcards:

    Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Trekfan, thank you for this. I am going through a very strange mourning process where it is still not sunk in. To me, Heath is still alive, in my heart, in all our loving memories. So your poem is very appropriate for me. I will see him when a bird circle in flight, when I look up into heavens and see the starry night; I will see him in a horseback riding silhouette, or a snowy mountain, or the rustling leaves in an autumn breeze. I cry and grief when I read the many posts from people who had the opportunity to meet him, to know him, like the fella who was changing a tire, and Heath came up to help, or the little lady who starred at Heath in a shopping mall, too awe-struck to ask for an autograph, but earned from Heath those unforgettable smiles, looking back. Hearing these intimate portrayal of the gentle man, the kind man, the loving man we all know so well, but not so well, I feel the pain and loss of his closest friends, of his family, and my grief overwhelms me.

Then I return to reality, and with the loving companionship of everyone here, I face life again, and carry on, as if tomorrow, I can go and see other movies that Heath had made, that I have not seen, and find him as alive as yesterday, last year. I don't know why it is like this with me, that I am not devastated like others, just numbed with sadness, but grateful that he died asleep, and now is in heaven, finally, like Ennis finding the shirts, know truly how much he is loved. I am grateful for this community, to grief alone, in silence, was much worse. This is at least bearable.
Heath, you are loved, like this, always.

It was confirmed today on CTV news that Heath Ledger was to be on Location here in Vancouver, Canada on January 28 for shooting scenes for Imaginarium, that makes his loss even more sad, because it would have been a true possibility to meet with him, as here the actors are more relax and knowing Heath as very approachable with his fans.

frenchcda, sometimes life is not as we expect it, or want it. As much as I would have loved to have met Heath, I am at peace that Heath died peacefully in his own apartment. He was apparently expecting a visit from one of his friends. I would have hated to have his death, in a strange hotel, and then surrounded by the paparazzi afterwards. This way, the tribute that is now building outside his apartment, is more meaningful. He deserves so much more.

Almost 24 hours for me here. It's 7 am in Spain. I slept 4 hours. Yesterday I ate nothing. 14 Hours in front of my laptop. I went to bed exhausted after the whole day crying and I was thinking of Heath, again and again. I've wake up thinking about him. My eyes and head aches so bad. I wanted to think beautiful things about him but when I tried I started to cry so wildly.
I have to go work now, but I don't want, I can't. I'm crying, shaking and I feel I'm going to vomit though I have nothing in my stomach. I feel really beaten and sad and cold and empty.
Today is worse than yesterday. Yesterday I was shocked but today I can see clearly after 24 hours crying: Heath is dead; he's not coming back again. I think I could die right now and I would be no sorry.

I had the privilege of meeting Heath twice, he crawled around on his hands and knees signing like mad for us,he and Michelle seemed to be really in love,he was biting his fingernails and she reached over and gently removed his hand from his mouth and  he promptly went mute.. she said" He can't talk unless I let go of his hand" I asked him about his gay uncle who had been a rolemodel for his crafting the character of Ennis. "He was tough , he could kick my ar**!" (laughter) . When it came time for him to leave he looked around frantically for Michelle in the crowd, without her he seemed lost. I rushed the stage stuck out my hand and he shook it ,I said "Congratulations on your nomination" He replied with those dancing black ball bearing eyes, and his shy half smile (just like Ennis).. "Thanks mate". I'm holding that autograph now, it is wet with my tears...G'day Heath, I'm glad to have met you. Thanks mate.

Oh my..... :\'(  :\'(  :\'(

He was so sweet and kind. I can't stop crying and I WANT but reading things like this I just simply can't.....  :\'(  :\'(  :\'(

Tell you what, I'm gonna die too, gonna die of sadness if I don't find a little tiny thing that make me feel better today.

Howdy all,

My name is Linda but my friends call me Rory. I'm from The Philadelphia,PA area.
When I heard about Heath's passing My legs litterally gave away and I have no idea how long I sat stunned in the floor of my living room staring at the TV thinkng NO HE CAN'T BE DEAD!HE HAS THE NEW BATMAN MOVIE COMING OUT.
I'm still in shock,  I slept for about 1 hour during lunch, couldn't eat, still have a lump in my throat and in the middle of a meeting started to cry silent tears when hears the song by Linda Rhondstat "It's so easy to fall in Love". :\'(
I discovered BBM only in last year when the DVD came out, and watched it every night for almost 2 months. The "pull" and emotion that Jake and Heath showed in their characters really drew me in so much. One of the messages that I got from the movie was that you should not let your happiness pass by no matter what people say or think. If it feels right or good to you, you should persue it with all of your heart, and that's what I did. I persued my love of horses at the age of 45. I took up western riding lessons and am hepling out at a horse farm on my weekends and I love every minute of it.  :c) <^(
This will be my first riding competiton season so I am dedicating this season in loving memory of Heath.

I will be traveling to NYC on sunday, weather permitting, to lay a tribute in front of Heath's apartment. If anyone is from this area and would like to join me I would love to meet you. PM me

My heart felt thoughts and prayers go out to Health's family especially to Michelle and Matilda.

TTYS,
Rory
Ennis: Whut?
Jack:  Friend, that's the most you've spoke in the past two weeks.
Ennis: Hell, that's the most I spoke in a year!

Ledger will now be remembered as the victim of an epic miscarriage of justice, giving a truly astounding performance that somehow did not find favour with the grizzled, homophobic slobs who run Hollywood

The best bit from a wonderful tribute. So right.
He will be eternally missed, but he will never be forgotten

Christopher Nolan, accepting the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe on Heath's behalf.

He was, as an actor and a professional and a human being, one of a kind

Charles Roven, accepting Heath's BAFTA.

This award tonight would have humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here — his peers within an industry he so loved.

Kim Ledger, accepting Heath's Oscar.

You are welcome.  :ghug: :ghug: How I wish I didn't have this opportunity. It is the least thing I can do.

Thanks again for giving me the strength. I am proud of this forum for the love and support we have given each other.

So the prince has left the stage;
Strangers watch him go and sigh.
And the world spins right along,
But there is no mourning song,
Save the one that weeps “Good-bye.”

THAT was oure  and amazing !  Thank you dear!!!  :\'(

I wish I knew how to quit thinking about you my sweet baby Heath.  :\'(
I decided I hate the world.

I hate the fact that Brokeback Mountain took 7 years to make.
I hate that Jack Twist died.
I hate the fact that Brokeback Mountain didn't win best picture.
I hate that Heath didn't win best actor.
I hate that Australian Paparazzi attacked Heath with water guns.
I hate that Heath was forced to sell his home.
I hate that even after the efforts of Brokeback Mountain the Gay and Lesbian community is still being victimized.
I hate that Heath Ledger died.
I hate what his family and friends is going though.
I hate that Matilda will never meet her Dad.
I hate the paramedics couldn't revive him.
I hate knowing Heath died alone in his bed.
I hate the last image I will always have of Heath being chucked in the back of a car in a black morbid body bag.
I hate the 22nd of January
I hate waking up to the first day without Heath.
I hate crying.

But most of all I hate knowing I'll never see Heath in another film.
I hate a world without Heath.

I hate.

BT.  owh, my dear you did show your heart open on the table...it's so hearbraking
and I  agree with you... it's the tragic reality at the moment..   :\'( :\'( :\'(
