Heath Andrew Ledger

Your Ennis touched my heart
Your genius showed me what I could not see
Your gentle compassionate soul led the way out of a maze

Your life inspired my desire to be more
Your departure carved a valley deep into my soul
Your love left foot prints of peace and serenity
in an empty valley of solitude
Now and forever watered with love and remembrance and gratitude

Always
Heath, you are loved, like this, always.

Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

White_Angel, that is so beautiful!

Reflected in a heart-shaped pool of water, reflected in our hearts.

Lovely.

The mention of your name
The sorrow of missing you
The emptiness of your absence
Leave me breathlessly in tears

The joy of seeing your smiling face
The awe to watch you telling another story
Knowing you made your last film
I am grateful for the work you left behind

Your birthday may be rolling by in another month
The years may move on without you aging another day
The time may come when my aged memory cannot recall your face
But of one thing I have no doubt,

there will always be a place in my heart, where you will always live.

How does a memory last this long
with images of you flashing in my mind
of your laughter and your smiles
of your cocky swagger and your languid stance

How does a memory last this long
with words of your wisdom coming in mid sentence
of your advice to seize the day and live without regrets
of your example to live fearlessly and walk through every door

How does a memory last this long
with tears that always come when you appear
on the television screen or on the printed page
of the work you left behind or tributes of people who knew you when

How does a memory last this long
when forever is not long enough

Heath, you are loved, like this, always.

And how does a poem from you, friend, fill my heart
with joy and tears, make me smile and cry at once
for the loss of the languid stance and deep laughter
for the love of the cocky swagger and smile.

Your words will help the memory last even if
Forever is not long enough.

What a beautiful way you string words together, Andrew, each one a precious and indispensable pearl contributing to the whole.  I always love your poetry and prose, but again you've outdone yourself here.  This is my new favourite.

Thanks Ayashe, Laura. I appreciate everyone's kind words, I am afraid the moderators will soon come knocking with the Off Topic sign. I try to leave this space only for candles for Heath, but words sometimes come with the candles because I've just been hit with PHS for the last few weeks, and I am afraid it won't be going away until April, maybe even later. Ryan Laird's song So I can Feel You Again, with the line, How does a memory last this long, just stirs up all kinds of feelings, words, and images. As I've said before, I am usually not very good with poetry, but when it comes to PBS and PHS, poetry is a lifeline that gives me room to grab hold, one word at a time. I always feel better after I expressed how I feel, especially here, with so many receptive and sympathetic ears. Thank you to you all, again and again.  <^(
