This is a real tearful article, so be forewarned:

Many thanks lance to have posted that link  ^f^.  I really hope Heath will receive an Oscar for his astounding performance as the Joker (a posthumous Oscar).  That will be a very good thing for his little daughter, later, she'll be proud of her father  O0:^^)

Maggie Gyllenhaal: Heath Ledger's Joker Deserves an Oscar

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20213999,00.html

A posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger for his Joker performance?

"I would vote for him," his Dark Knight costar Maggie Gyllenhaal told reporters Monday at the film's London premiere.

Gyllenhaal, 30, said of Ledger's Oscar prospects that the "degree of difficulty should be incorporated into the award."

"To be that incredible in a movie that's this huge, that's about so many things, is really an accomplishment," she said. "In a way I feel funny thinking about the Oscars when he isn't alive, but at the same time I'm a member of the Academy and I would vote for him."

Gyllenhaal – who replaced Katie Holmes in the role of Assistant District Attorney Rachel Dawes – spoke to reporters while her fiancé Peter Saarsgard watched from a few feet behind.

She said of Ledger's performance: "In order to be a good actor you have to find a place where you are free, but it's very unusual to be absolutely free in the way that he was in this movie. It was inspiring working with him."

At the premiere – which featured a 2.5 ton replica of the Batmobile, shooting flames – fans carried signs and banners campaigning for an Oscar for Ledger.

Michael Caine, who plays Batman's butler Alfred, told reporters he "would pay good money" to see a performance that could top Ledger's for the Oscar. Previously Caine said Ledger was worthy of nomination.

I must get that book also, definitely

I love hearing about these sons of our Brokie mothers -- beautiful young men obviously, sons of special mothers!  I suspect lots of young men -- and other people -- can now more freely feel okay about digging Heath Ledger, whereas before, it might have been difficult for some, especially young men, when he was only connected in the public eye with BBM.

Tammy, I hope you'll find it  ^f^

Keren, that's fine from Jake's sister to vote for a winning oscar for Heath

Hey Brokies,

"Film Review" Magazine has The Dark Knight on the cover again. There are a few things about Heath throughout it, not just in the TDK article, though the article is really good, and talks about him a lot also. There is also a cool article on the 25 best actors/actresses working in Hollywood and Christian Bale is #1!

I believe it's a UK magazine, but I found it here in the states at Barnes and Noble. You can check out it's website...

Interesting quote from Larry McMurtry:

Quote
On Brokeback Mountain: "[Writing partner Dianna Ossana and I] both recognized Brokeback Mountain as a great story and asked that day if we could option it. There was a flood of people wanting to read it, but we got it first. My partner’s very tenacious and through thick and thin, she hung onto it. We waited until Heath Ledger got big enough we could cast him. It was a lot of luck and a lot of patience. You have to hang in there for a long time sometimes.

I am so happy they dropped this thing. It was just annoying and the media would go crazy and thats not what Heaths family, friends or fans need right now. Maybe now that can finally let him be...

I saw the article about them stopping the investigation into where Heath got the drugs.  I am glad.  I thought we were past all this stuff.   Hearing about them still investigating and going after MKO just upset me very much.   Just opened the wound that was just starting to heal for me.

I keep thinking of Matilda that is when I start crying for the little girl who no longer had her father in her life  :\'(

Titabeille  thanks for the info about that book.  I had heard about books coming out about Heath and his life (mostly written to make money off his passing)

But I didn't know there was one out there illustrated. I am going to look into getting one.
Thanks

I guess we were bound to have different beliefs as to whether they should have continued the investigation.  No need to go into that.  Just wanted to say, Jackster's quote reflects my own feelings of resignation  ---for what it's worth.

I don't feel anything would/could have been accomplished by carrying on an investigation into Heath's death, at least not for those who remember him, and love him, and miss him terribly.  For Heath I say..let be, let be.   :\'( :)

Let be...let be...That is beautifully quoted, rlh03. I agree with you 100%. The lesson is simple and early on, prescription drugs are powerful and should be used only with extreme caution and respect for its misuse. If one teenager learns this lesson from Heath's tragic accident, then he had saved yet another life, and would be proud.  :ghug:
Heath, you are loved, like this, always.
