Woops, I wasn't looking at what I was posting. The Post and the Times both got a nasty letter.  :8  %&)
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Ennis, riding against the wind back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken darken light, thought he'd never had such a good time, felt he could paw the white out of the moon.

Some good news about all our efforts in responding to Ms. Peyser's vile NY Post article.... Keep them coming! It made the news:  (be forewarned however, that there are some excerpts of references to reader comments in support of Peyser, but overwhelmingly, they were against her views)

And to counterbalance that horrific example of trashy behavior, here is a piece on Daniel Day Lewis expressing his displeasure about the 'media circus' that has been surrounding Heath's family since his death. Yet another example of how classy this guy can be, how respected and admired Heath was, and how decent most human beings can be at a time like this. Thank you Daniel. :)

Day-Lewis slams media 'circus' around Ledger death

Agence France-Presse
BERLIN - British film star Daniel Day-Lewis blasted the media "circus" Friday surrounding the death of Heath Ledger after his moving dedication of a top award to the Australian actor last month.
Day-Lewis, 50, who was at the Berlin Film Festival where his new picture "There Will Be Blood" is in competition, said the round-the-clock coverage was only compounding the grief of Ledger's family.
When asked about the tribute he made at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards in Los Angeles on January 27, Day-Lewis said he was wary of speaking out publicly about Ledger again.
"I'm reluctant to talk about it now. As much I was glad to have a chance to say something in that moment, I now feel...there's plenty more I could say but I'm not just fuelling a fire that's already out of control," he said.
"His family, for instance, at this moment, are trying to suffer the unimaginable grief in the full scrutiny of a !@#$ circus and anything that I say is going probably to just contribute even more to that because it keeps the story running and running and running and running."
He said he hoped the focus would return to appreciation of Ledger's performances.
"There will come a time eventually when people just remember that he was a beautiful man who did some wonderful work and we have seen great things from him," he said.
"And right now I can't say I'm too enthusiastic about adding more fodder to what's already just a horrendously, seamy, overblown machine that's gathered around his death. It's horrible."

The New York chief medical examiner's office released a toxicology report Wednesday showing that Ledger, 28, died of accidental intoxication caused by painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs.
In the SAG acceptance speech, Day-Lewis said the Australian's performances -- in particular his role in the 2005 gay cowboy drama "Brokeback Mountain"-- had deeply inspired him.
Day-Lewis has also been nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as a tyrannical oil prospector in "There Will Be Blood".

Thank you Daniel Day Lewis, thank you so much. What a sensitive noble man, he speaks for all of us and I will admire him forever for his words and actions.
The truth is... sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it.

Heath Ledger is being farewelled with a ceremony in Perth, to be followed by a private funeral with the Hollywood actor's immediate family only.

Ledger's father Kim Ledger said the family was finding it hard to cope with the actor's death, let alone the media attention from around the world.

Mr Ledger said the funeral itself would be limited to 10 people.

Model Gemma Ward, rumoured to have been a former girlfriend of Ledger, has also arrived at the exclusive girls' school.

Ward was dressed in a black jacket and skirt and wore dark glasses.

Those attending are being asked to show identification before they are allowed in.

Arrangements have been made for the media to take photos of mourners arriving at and leaving the ceremony.

"I know that a lot of you have travelled from all around the world to take footage of as much as you can of our ceremony for Heath," Mr Ledger earlier told reporters before leaving for the service.

"...I just ask you if you wouldn't mind to respect our privacy.

"The funeral will be very, very private. There will only be 10 people there, immediate family and nobody else."

Ledger's two-year-old daughter Matilda and his former fiancee, actor Michelle Williams, arrived in Perth this week ahead of the funeral.

Mr Ledger said the family appreciated the outpouring of grief from around the world.

"I'm sorry, we really haven't had a chance to expose ourselves to you guys (the media and public).

"It's a pretty sad time and we're finding it difficult to cope by ourselves, let alone cope with everybody around the world.

"Having said that we do really appreciate the outpouring and the emotional support from all over the world, which, suffice to say, we're luckier than most families, most families that are in our position, our grieving position, don't have that kind of support.

"So thank you all very much. That's all I've got to say."

My heart is with the Ledger family. Rest in peace Heath, I'll always love you. :\'(

Ledger farewelled in emotional service
Saturday Feb 9

Heath Ledger has been farewelled in an emotional and moving hometown memorial service attended by some of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Ledger's former partner actor Michelle Williams, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, supermodel Gemma Ward, Australian actors Bryan Brown, Michael Caton, Rose Byrne, Shane "Kenny" Jacobsen and Joel Edgerton and footballer Ben Cousins attended amid tight security in Perth.

They joined family, school friends and politicians at the memorial for the 28-year-old actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Brokeback Mountain.

Before the service, Ledger's father Kim told reporters his family appreciated the outpouring of grief from around the world.

"It's a pretty sad time and we're finding it difficult to cope by ourselves, let alone cope with everybody around the world," Mr Ledger said.

"Having said that we do really appreciate the outpouring and the emotional support from all over the world, which, suffice to say, we're luckier than most families, most families that are in our position, our grieving position, don't have that kind of support.

"So thank you all very much.

"That's all I've got to say."

Williams and the actor's family drove in an escorted convoy of four black vehicles to the memorial service at Penrhos College, a private girls' school in the south Perth suburb of Como.

The couple's daughter Matilda was not with her emotional mother, who, clad in a cream dress, was supported into the building by Ledger's older sister Kate.

Mourners, who had to show identification to get into the service, were given a program that read: "This room is filled with the love we all felt for a great friend who will be missed by all of us.

"We want to thank those of you who took care of him and participated in his beautiful life."

One of the mourners said the service was emotional, moving and at times funny as it celebrated Ledger's life.

Blanchett "gave a funny moving eulogy about their times spent together", the woman said.

Kate Ledger spoke beautifully about her childhood with Ledger and how close she felt to her younger brother, she added.

Ledger's parents Kim Ledger and Sally Ledger Bell also paid tribute to their son.

Mourners watched family montages and a montage about Matilda, Ledger's two-year-old daughter with former fiancee Williams.

The service heard some of Ledger's favourite music including the song The Times Are A Changing by Bob Dylan.

His family and Williams left by a side entrance before going to Fremantle Cemetery, where it is understood they held a small, private cremation service while the other mourners gathered for a wake at a popular beachside restaurant in Cottesloe.

The memorial came after two farewells in Los Angeles, one a 1,000-strong, star-studded tribute for Ledger.

Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on January 22.

The New York Medical Examiner's Office ruled Ledger died from an accidental overdose of prescription medications.

Despite rampant speculation, plans for Ledger's funeral remained a closely-guarded secret - when Kim Ledger spoke to reporters for the first time since he read a statement to the press on the day his son died.

"I know that a lot of you have travelled from all around the world to take footage of as much as you can of our ceremony for Heath," Mr Ledger said.

While arrangements were made for the media to photograph mourners arriving and leaving the ceremony, Mr Ledger said the family wanted to grieve in private.

"I just ask you if you wouldn't mind to respect our privacy," he said.

"The funeral will be very, very private. There will only be 10 people there, immediate family and nobody else."

Those who attended the 90 minute memorial service included directors Phillip Noyce and Neil Armfield. Armfield, who directed Ledger in the Australian film Candy, also spoke at the service.

Actor David Wirrpanda and band members from Eskimo Joe also attended the memorial which began with a didgeridoo performance by local musician Levi Islam.

Goodbye dear man. You shall never be forgotten by those who love you. For there is so much for us all to learn, from your life, and as strange as it may be to some, by your death also. You did not die in vain, by your untimely and tragic death, others might now be saved.

A beautiful soul does not die..it exists eternally, to look upon and guide those it once knew and loved, when it once could exist upon the earth, in its physical form. That Heath, had such a soul, has been shown time and and time again, since he passed away. True, he had many failings and faults, which made him all the more human, someone much like us all. It was just that, which mesmerised and intrigued those who had the pleasure to have known Heath in life..they saw the beautiful soul, which existed within him.

I wonder if Jake is alright. He has been missing from all the public appearances, including this one, or at least, no mention of him. I hope this is the family's way of protecting his privacy, and not his own secluding himself. It would be much healthier for him to be able to mourn and let it out. I read he calls his sister and Reese Witherspoon daily, but I think he needs someone like Daniel Day-Lewis, Eric Bana, an older brother figure who can help him cope.

The cremation ceremony would have been a moment for him to let go. I wish he was there.  :\'(

Ledger farewelled in emotional service
Saturday Feb 9

Heath Ledger has been farewelled in an emotional and moving hometown memorial service attended by some of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Whether he did or not, I hope he'll be okay. This has got to have hit him so hard :-\\

Yeah, I feel so bad for him, I can't emagin loosing a close friend :(

:\'( I hope Jake will be strong for Matilda's sake. But for now, he also needs to let his grief show. He doesn't need to be the strong silent cowboy. He needs to be Ennis in the last scene, hurting, but accepting the peace and hope of future reunions. It will probably take a long time, and he has such a heavy work load...Brothers is an emotionally demanding movie. I just hope the people around him will give him the shoulders for him to cry on, and the fr#$#king media will stay off his back, let him show his grief in private.

Heath, you are loved, like this, always.

Everybody has their own way to grieve and deal with pain... Jake is doing it in his own way.
The truth is... sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it.
