Mr, Ennisent was kinda pouring it on though. Oh so unaware of the effect his grooming regimen was having on Jack. Check out the *what the hell are you doing?* look Ennis gives him after Jack spills the beans. His dinner preparations are interrupted , and distracted by this whole ritual of Ennis's grooming. "balls the size of apples?" wow. ...more innuendo on Ennis's part. Then he has to peel potatoes...with a knife.. That took all the composure he had left! ;DI don't think he was even aware any more that he was having a smoke. It's enough to throw any one off when you have feelings toward one as Jack did. Major crushin on Ennis!

Thanx Baby Tammy, The acting in the scene is excellent. Jake portrayed Jack as one who felt Ennis could read his mind! That Ennis could somehow read his desire....If Ennis could, he did'nt let on, but sometimes I wonder if Ennis was a bit more aware than he leads us to believe. "Want some of this hot water"? Jack: " It's all yours"

... ahem ...I can read something into that , but that's just me.

Yes, Jack's sensuality was emotionally driven. It came straight from the heart, and that is what informs his desire first and foremost.

A bizarre sexy scene has come to mind (having just watched the film for the 6th time), bizarre in that it's Jack's hand that I find unbelievably sexy in the reunion kiss scene, when Ennis first kisses him and Jack's hand comes up and takes hold of the back of Ennis's head - I love it, I love it, with the ring on the finger and all!

Thomas, you are normally so good at finding a pic of all my fave hot scenes, can you find this one?

Just one of the many cute scenes, that adorable look he gives Ennis when he tries to wipe the blood from his head - for me that is the first look of "love" - it tears me apart everytime I see it. God he has a way of "looking", doesn't he?

wow..I love this scene too.... I love the look Jack gives Ennis too after Ennis kisses him....its a current that goes through Jack and he is charged with so much love and affection that he wanted to reciprocate that love and he holds his head and reciprocates the affection

It was even more intense as it was repressed for 4 long long years of seperation..finally they were together after so long and Jack was so overwhelemed with the response he recieved from Ennis in the reunion scene...it was a perfect example of spontaneous, pure, strong yet warm and repressed love that gushesd out like a volcano

Seeing the body language in the reunion scene for the first time was an increadibly intense experience, no? But the scene happens so fast that I wonder if people really realize what makes this scene so intense. We have seen it many times, of course, and so we just know how much the details (such as the hand) heighten our emotional response to the scene.

Yup

I can hear him in my head now. I love Jack's face throughout this whole scene. So many different emotions there- The happiness at laying eyes on Ennis again, the almost disbelief (in a good way) at this greeting... I guess the whole being totally overcome at a moment that he more than likely dreamed about.

He used that SOAB in the reunion scene because he didn't find words right there, so much overwhelmed with his love, and that expression said it all. SOAB, why in the hell did you leave me go that summer?

Then, he used that very same expression in the confrontation scene to show his rage, pain and sadness....

I think that because the scene happened so fast and because so many things happened in those few seconds it was so intense and the impact was huger...everything right from the hug till the falling of the hat, till Jack throwing Ennis on the wall and so on happened so fast and with so much passion that we just kept our eyes wide open and our hearts pounding so fast as we see the gravity of their love

...am so overwhelmed right now..

The cussing is in the same vein as Ennis's "Jack F Twist" With both of them, it would seem that we should read the curses as marks of affection, even in the most intense of scenes (such as in the Last Confrontation). Very hard to read, sometimes, but still, they can strike us as cute and sexy...

Maybe you all know this already, but.. If you listen carefully or perhaps just repeatedly, it sounds just like he says "It's so magic" in place of "son of a..". I forgot where this was noted. I believe it was cut into a Youtube clip. Kind of amazing.

I agree about Jack's cussing being a bit cute and sexy. When he drags out "this is a gawd damn bitch of an unsatisfactory situation" my mind unravels my thought of him, and it goes deeper and deeper, under more and more layers of him until he spits out 'situation'. It's like he's holding the stare on his flesh. I remember first hearing him say this, it seemed elementary of him, like the voice was coming from another personality... maybe one deep down that he told not to ever speak out of turn. There's just something kinda naked about his demeanor here I think, due probably to the truth that couldn't otherwise be articulated.

When you suggest this way of Jack emoting or highlighting his emotions, his elongated message of the situation follows the rule like the trail behind a hurricane..

It is a vulnerable look. Jack realized that he had exposed his love too openly and was rebuffed.

There is certainly a softness in some of his most beautiful looks. But it is not a effete softeness. It is a malleability born out of real love and affection.
