Anyway, I am not an expert in acting, ...to be honest - don't know the first thing. So, if everyone else is telling me that Jake's pose has a different meaning, I'll accept.

Good explanation though! All of us sometimes act like that!

It's always interesting to hear about a different veiwpoint, especially in the interpretation of the different scenes, so thanks for bringing that up!

I also love the scene when Jack tries to clean Ennis wound with the cloth after he fell from the horse...I feel Jack reallly wanted to caress Ennis in that scene but then Ennis takes away the cloth from him and Jack looks the other way then...

That scene, along with his worry about Ennis's accident showed how feelings were already there. Jack, always open to them, and Ennis always closed, for he couldn't even stand Jack cleaning his wound. And what would be more natural than that? But Ennis at that point maybe already feels more... or he's just not used to someone's care... what do you think?

I think that they starting feeling for each other by that time..As u said Jack was worried for Ennis and he did want to caress him and take care of him…But Ennis felt conscious of Jack being so close and just took the clothe away from him...Ennis was already in a lot of physical pain and feeling Jack so close made him wary so he took the cloth away…Jack picked that up well and so dint take it further and changed the topic about the food…Its obvious that the feelings were there...

I think Ennis knew that he is having a soft corner for Jack but he wanted to push it in his unconscious and the best way to do that was to keep him away and so he felt that it is better for him to clean his wounds himself in that scene...Even a touch of Jack which was with the intention of helping Ennis out made Ennis conscious...Now that is a fair enough enough evidence of the spark

Oh yes, this scene for me is the first look of love from Jack, and Ennis can sense something between them, a spark, tension, something intimate that he feels uncomfortable with, and pulls the cloth away.  Jack's face then tears my heart out, and the whole scene is just so beautifully and subtlely played.

I think that both of them (Heath and Jake) made a tremendous job. Who ever decide to choose two of them for the role is a genius.

What makes all their enormous talent even more impressive is how they perfectly supplement each other - Jack reflect his emotions in Ennis's reactions and Ennis's feelings always mirrors in Jack's loving eyes. We can experience each of them through the other one. That's the most amazing part of all.

Yes, I felt that Jack wanted to do more in that scene -- you see it clearly when Ennis grabs the neckerchief from him, correct?

I watched the DVD last night!  So I have yet another cute Jack scene:

When he hollers at Ennis to come into the tent, just after Ennis lies down and is getting comfortable, Jack raises his head just a tiny bit and looks over to make sure his darling is there for sure.  What a lovely scene!

Well, he located it and quickly moved it to a another location. Yum indeed. I was both shocked and pleasantly surprised at such a bold and very sexy move. Wow,  He just went for it.

How about the scene where Jack lassos Ennis's feet. It was a  cute playful gesture by Jack, and his laughing was infectous.   Ennis steps right in the rope, trips, and it turns into a tug of war  between them with the rope. I think Jack was communicating  something huh? . Alot of symbolism at that moment.

 I wonder what Jack's thoughts were when he took the rope off the horse. That was a moment when he just stared at Ennis sitting all alone on the hill.. those eyes...gawd!!    Very sexy.

There's another scene (yeah, yeah  it's E&J together, so what?   ) I like a lot. Makes me sad but also moved at the same time... well all their mutual scenes do!

The day they were supposed to leave the Brokeback mountain - wrestling! Ennis was sitting on the rock, out of himself, but not because of August payment he'd never get from Aguirre. He knew it was over. Did nothing, just lost all his power and waited for Jack to finish the job. He just couldn't! And Jack, little cuty, after finish all the chores, wanted to cheer him up and took a rope to pull him on the floor.

Then something interesting happens: Ennis is enjoying wrestling with Jack as so many times before, but suddenly becomes aggressive and angry. Wrestling is not a lovely game anymore, it's a fight against his own feelings. He really really wants to beat up Jack, thinking that in that way he'll manage to beat up his own love. Suddenly he's the one who got beaten and he's awaking from the dream, but that sexy temptation is coming back again, hugs him and tells him so lovely words. Now, that's to much for him, he just has to defend and he punches Jack so hard that he falls down in pain feeling surprised and sad.

The scene's great! It shows an innocent wrestling between them which ends in boyish punching. Nothing special! But the meaning of the scene is deep and it depicts all the troubles of the situation they're, their awareness that the most beautiful part of  their life's brutally interupted, and they would have to split now.

We see Jack so vulnerable, but as always open to any possibility, and Ennis pursuing his former decision to go home and marry Alma! Both of them (Ennis more than Jack) completely unaware of hell they'd be going through without eachother!

As I said - half sweet, half sour! And always make my tears run as crazy!  :\'( :\'( :\'(

In the last part of your post, you refer to what I call the "Mars" scene (after Mars the moderator, who used this for his avatar).  I think that look is one of the cutest AND sexiest Jack looks in the entire movie...

2.  How tenderly he initially applies the compress to Ennis's forehead -- so tenderly that Ennis must have felt a bit uncomfortable -- hence, his grabbing it away from Jack...

Aw I loved it when Jack applied the hankerchief to Ennis's forhead I wanted to just hug Jack when Ennis snached it away from him!

Exactly -- he sounded like a spoiled kid who is pouting after he doesn't get what he wants.  Deliciously cute -- and sexy, I might add.  That faint smile you see on his face is absolutely sexy.

Open, affectionate, loving, caring... but still with his own insecurities caused by not so lovely childhood, probably some previous disappointments and rejections and who know what more... So I believe that at the beginning, before Ennis gave himself up, Jack's reactions were more kind of listening of Ennis's pulse, than a real understanding. When they became lovers, they surely became closer and Jack always showed a great deal of understanding for his friend and lover.

Even later, when they separated Jack wasn't sure of himself enough to say something more that "I might be back!"... (and gave the sad look that's a real killer, but that's another story...)

Jack is a seducer, he is magnetically charming, and that effect the viewers too. He flirts with Ennis, but has a power to transmit that to us all and we feel like we're inside of the movie.

Hmmmm...Jack is definietly the one who steals my heart with his charm and sex appeal...

Another scene I find very charming, not so much as a scene, but more it's deeper meaning.

It's after FNIT, when Jack is washing his clothes. He is cold ( and we know that he hates cold), but wants to be clean when Ennis comes back. Oh, how lovely that intention is!

Watching him there I felt frozen myself, thinking - how on Earth he's going to dry that clothes, what will he wear (  ) until's dried... but as much as the scene itself was unpleasant, and the background music was disturbing reflecting his inner insecurity, inside my heart I felt warmth.

His way of showing love, of wanting Ennis to accept him, his firm attention to take their relationship to a higher level even if freezing in the water, that was so touching... oh, God! I LOOVED it!
