Ok, you've all got me totally confused now.  After my third viewing at the weekend, thought I had it all worked out.  I'd decided that the truck scene was taken when Ennis and Jack were on their way to their first "fishing trip" (after the night in the motel), but now realise that that's probably wrong and it was likely to have been either the day they get taken to the mountain or (my favoured choice) when they have to come down from the mountain early.  They both look in deep thought....but more so Ennis.....like he knows this is it, he's going to be parted from Jack, and he can hardly stand it.   :'( :'(

It really confuses me how so many scenes are shown in the trailer that haven't ended up in the film - I'm hoping, like all of you, that Ang is kind to us and has them all on the DVD for us all to devour!

I've heard that the DVD is out in the UK on 4 April - if so, how does that work out in hours?

If you recall the scene where Ennis Brings the girls to Alma at the Grocery store saying that he has to go to the ranch, well the folling scene is of Ennis getting into the truck with Jack leaving for another play in the sack, if you get my drift. It was cut from the movie, but the first part was left in so as to introduce Monroe into the picture.
FYI: there is in total 40 minutes that had to be deleted from the original version. My info was from another blog on the British internet.
We still have so much more that has yet to be discovered.

Maybe this 40 minutes will include all the trailer scenes that didn't make into the final cut.....plus more besides of course.

There may indeed be a boys-getting-into-the-truck for another into-the-woods scene that was edited from the final film, but that can't be the truck scene that we see in the trailer.  In the trailer scene they are wearing the Brokeback shirts.  At the time of the scene in the grocery store, those shirts are tucked away in Jack's closet in Lightning Flats!  Allan

I wonder how much of those 40 minutes were the scene with the stranded hippies  that Heath mentioned in that interview...

Is that the scene that they did not like shooting , showing a heroic side of Jack and Ennis? I want to see it, but I want to see the goofs too, where they all laugh about it!

lolol Oh, yeah, the stranded hippies scene.  it sounds like it was a good idea that they cut it out.  That was a great interview with Heath.  I can't wait to see all the extras that will be on the DVD.  They are probably working on the DVD now and if the they are paying attention to the buzz and excitement around BBM, they will jam pack  it full with great stuff that we all want to see!

Slightly OT, but I wish that they will have a regular dvd and then an EE like PJ did for LOTR...with all the extra material INSIDE the film, not just deleted scenes on an extra disc.

I hope that made sense, I am falling of my chair cause I'm so tired but damned if I am going to bed too early tonight, no work tonight..

;)I'm with you on this Esme, much rather have the extra scenes filling out the film than a jumble of them tacked on the end. Although i would buy the cinema version AND a directors cut (please let there be one)x

Yep, that one scene with the hippies as describe by Heath ledger was added in the script and Heath and Jack said it truly didn't fit the Author's view, so they cut it off, very thankfull about that. that interview sure brought much needed insight to the making of the movie knowing that they wasted one week filming somthing they truly didn't feel comfertable

I agree, I hope the people working on making the DVD are monitoring this forum. I think it is save to say that we would all like to see as much as we can of the making of the movie, different takes of the scenes and everything else. I myself wouldn't mind hours and hours of it!
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Ennis, riding against the wind back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken darken light, thought he'd never had such a good time, felt he could paw the white out of the moon.

The Hippie scene will not be on the DVD release Ang lee said in an interview in Taiwan that it was cut and detroyed, it was a scene that was invented to show the macho side of Heath and Jack, it didn't work, so my bet is it wont be on the dvd

You are absolutly right on this, however in the unedited version the scene with Ennis and Alma in the grocery store was to be shown after he had met with Jack, it was to depict Ennis leaving with Jack in the truck for BBM after dropping the kids with Alma, but is was re-edited as you see in the final cut, as I mention earlier they are scenes that have been dropped and adjusted, I would recommend that you see the Charlie Rose interview, it has alot of bits and pieces that tells some insight to what has been cut off, so has to retain the originality of the movie and honor Annie proulx's request to stay honest to Wyoming story.
thanks for noting this fluke

I think that pic is very describing of both Ennis and Jack tho.. Ennis with furrowed brows and looking all closed, and Jack smiling and looking like nothing can ever worry him...
