What is the second daughter’s name?
« on: Feb 07, 2006, 08:12 AM »
“You got a kid?” said Jack. His shaking hand grazed Ennis’s hand, electrical current snapped between them.
“Two little girls,” Ennis said. “Alma, Jr., and Francine. Love them to pieces.” Alma’s mouth twitched.

I remember Ennis named his second daughter Jenny in the movie.
But it’s Francine in the original story.

Correct me if I am wrong.  :)
Jack: Hoorayyy!!
Ennis: I am gettin' tired of you dumbass missin'

In the screenplay, it is Jenny, I believe...

Jenny as a young child in the movie is played by Brooklyn Proulx - hasta be a relative of Annie's.

It's not unusual for movies based on books to alter the names of some of the characters.  "Jenny" is a more down to earth name than "Francine."  "Alma" and "Jenny" suit the daughters of a Wyoming rancher.  "Francine?"  Nah.

Yep, the name Jenny is more suitable. It’s like hey look is Alma jr, and her sis Jenny. Sounds sweet...

I like more Jenny than Francine too...
someone suggested that Jenny was the fusion between
Jack and Ennis..
in this case Ennis would have chose the name of their second daughter
and Alma (with no much imagination) the one of the first.
Anyway I like to think that Jenny = Jack+Ennis  :)
