I talked with Luke Davies a couple of days ago. He wanted to visit the site and asked me for the address. I gave it to him and he visited the site. He thought the site was great and loved our passion for these films.

Oh my god, the HD version of the trailer just blew me away... it's FANTASTIC!!!!!! I'm going to put up some screencaps on the main Parnassus thread. As far as the trailer is concerned, I think it would be better to discuss it there.

I don't want to rain on your parade (the trailer is indeed amazing) but links to the trailers should be posted in the proper thread, where they were posted as well, please avoid duplicate posts as we try here to help to get the movie distributed in North America. All the other stuff like pictures from the movie or trailers should go only there as they are...

Also, we were, I believe, the first channel to have the new trailer (on our main channel); or one of the first. I have also since loaded it to our sub-channel. And the number of other channels on Youtube that have been uploading the trailer seem to be multiplying by the hour. Some of them are "friends" of our channel; some not. But I think this speaks VOLUMES about the true public interest in this film....

Normally, when you do a Youtube search for a film trailer (at least any I've ever searched for), you find a few uploads... two, maybe three, occasionally five.....

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus new trailer currently has THIRTY-FIVE uploads. And more than that for sure, because I stopped counting after 35. I've seen it on channels from all over the globe, some with subtitles in other languages. I think it's just such a huge testament to the interest in the film, in Terry, and in the cast.

. I'm still waiting for a release date in Israel... who knows we might even get it before the US does. We usually get movies around the same dates Europe gets them. I still hope that you can make it to Toronto!

There Is A Very Important Problem With The US and Brazilian Distribution -

The USA has distribution for Dr. Parnassus. Sony Classics is in the process of closing the deal now. The December 25th release date that is rumored on the web is NOT anything more than a rumor at this point. I have this straight from the producers of the film. There is no release date at this time as the finalization of the distribution deal is not complete yet and until that is totally finalized you cannot set a release date, though it may be sometime in December according to Terry Gilliam.

They have a very bad reputation on this front from many quarters in the industry. This being the case there is a global call to put extra effort into supporting the film for the USA and Brazil (both being distributed by Sony Classics). The Dr. Parnassus Support Site will be the launching pad for a grassroots campaign called for by much respected UK journalist Brenden Connelly. At this point we are waiting for the dust to settle then will be talking with Brenden and his sources and resources to move forward to put these extra efforts into these two countries along with the rest of the world. We are keeping in mind the fact that Sony Classics has made the frightening statement of how the movie has such great dvd earning potential while totally glossing over theater release and that though the US is over 50% of the worldwide film market.

If we do not have this grassroots campaign we are very likely looking at the same sitaution as Candy with THINKfilm. Extremely limited release. We have to force Sony to put it out there.

When the dust settles on all this in about a week we are going to have an online chat to which everyone will be invited and brainstorm and suggest ideas to help this situation. We cannot let this happen to Heath's last performance. It is inconsionable.

Let me put out some questions Keren and see what kind of answers I can get on Israel again honey. I'll let you know.

I think right now we just need to let the dust settle then we're going to have another brainstorming chat. Brendon Connelly, the journalist who originally broke this story is going to be joining our efforts and we'll get this publicized. We just have to figure out the best road to take. Heath cannot have only very limited release. It's just not acceptable in any form. He's no one's second thought.

After seeing the trailer I'm even more determined that this movie should not be watched on dvd alone, it HAS to be seen on the big screen, the images are stunning. You HAVE to watch it on a big screen to get the full effect. And you're right, Heath cannot have only limited release - his work should get the atmost respect it deserves.
