that screen cap... Ennis is wearing that wider blue strip shirt, so it should be after coming down the mountain...

That's what I thought too, but none of them have marks on their faces, from the fight  ???

These are THE SHIRTS tho... so this is from the way up.

Might be?!!!!

did anyone miss this error, this is on the way up, you guy''s have right , but look closely that is the shirt that is inside Jack's shirt in the end, plus anyone see the bit of the shirt being put into the bag, it is very subttle, you see only a bit of the cuff.

It looks to me as if it could be a shot of them being trucked up to the jump-off. I think that is the shirt Ennis was wearing in the bar. It might explain the differences in their facial expressions. Jack knows what he's going to, for Ennis, a more serious fellow, he entering the unknown with a stranger.
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Ennis, riding against the wind back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken darken light, thought he'd never had such a good time, felt he could paw the white out of the moon.

They drink all day, and then sleep in Jacks truck. Screenplay or shortstory??? I think Jack sleeps and Ennis sits and looks out the window...

Right, Jack was obviously attracted to Ennis at first sight and I imagine Ennis must have felt some strange unknown emotion stirring inside himself at that moment too. As selfcontained as he was  it would take weeks up on the mountain and the first tent scene before he would have a clue as to what it was.

sorry to disappoint you, but they is no reference whatsoever to what occurs between the time they drink together and the time they leave the next morning to the drop off, all one can make sense of his that most probability is that jack slept in the truck and Ennis slept in the Barn just on the outskirt of town, otherwise how would he had know they was a barn to hide and puke after Jack left him that summer?
many scenarios can be created, but one thing is sure, Jack knew what he was going up to mend the sheep, Ennis had no idea, thus their story truly begins after he said NO MORE BEANS, they is no way one would talk that way knowing you got to live together all summer, the friendship was all there !
hope this alleviates some of your concerns, true or not true, BBM is forever in our hearts. no matter the ways we perceived some scenes.  Love ya

Screenplay have the scene when they sleep in the truck, but so many things were changed from it Its your choise to belive it or not :D You could say they just shortened some things (like the beggining - when Ennis comes to Signal) and totally changed some, so only if you read carefully you can decide if something that happened in the screenplay was "deleted" from the movie, or simply it "did happen but behind our eyes view."
As for the barn, I dunno. He didn't hide in any sort of a barn, he just entered an alley. And he didn't look like he knew what was he doing, he just felt this things pulling his guts out, and he escaped to the first place he saw.
Brokeback Mountain - go see It if you didn't yet, and if you did do it a couple of more times!

"he just entered an alley. "
no, no, look closely the barn is on the main street going towards the outskirt of town, look at the field beyond, there ain't no alley there. it is the same street as the one Jack travelled when they went their separate ways.

Hey all, everyone here keeps talking about a truck scene (Jack and Ennis) in the trailer but you must be watching a different trailer than i've seen - I went back and watched it several times (at Brokeback Mountain.com) and still don't see the scene - can anyone provide the link to the trailer that has that scene??  Also, several people have commented on the deleted trailer scene concerning the person standing on the bridge being Jack - I always felt that was Ennis - Ennis I think is more broad shouldered while Jack appears to be more narrow - does anyone have a close up that really shows the peson's face??  And to my last question - the scene at the garage  in the trailer - I may be totally blind but I think the individual behind the older man is a woman and have always felt that the older man was Ennis (maybe a scene that was cut do to length) remember in the book it starts talking about Ennis being older (older than depicted in the movie) - I always thought that the old man was Ennis (look at his pensive (longing) look and I thoght that the (girl?) behind him was maybe Alma Jr.
