Go see it again
« on: Mar 06, 2006, 09:50 PM »
I say we attend more.  I am going to see it tonight cause the local second run place has it
and was so certain it would win best picture they fought to have it this week and pick up audiences
with the press.  So damnit I am going.

And I am going to try to get in one more in addition to that. It's still my all-time favorite movie, and we're talking a significant chunk of time here folks!!

I better get moving!

I think this is BBM's last week running at my cinema.. (its been 3 months or more) thats unusually long for a movie to stay where my theatre is. BUT Thats good news! Means lots of people have been seeing it!

Right on everyone.

Ok, I just got back from the BEST viewing so far.  I feel it somehow fits it lost now, I mean just like the world wasn't ready for Jack they aren't ready for BBM in Hollywood either.  Makes it more special (did someone say Titanic?)

But anyways, like Ennis fully appreciated Jack after losing him, I appreciated the movie more after last night.  It's a firggen masterpiece but I don't have to tell YOU that.  The movie house was packed on a Monday night.  Very nice crowd.  I felt so connected to Ennis at the end, it was like being with family.  I grieve with him.

So everyone go out and see it again!

OK, twist my arm.......

I went again tonight. Partially to support the film (take that, Crash) and partially because its last showing in my area is Thursday.

With so many people trying to see it again this week, maybe its time for a new poll at the end of the week. My vote on the previous poll was 5 viewings ago.

Yay!  Say hi to the boys!

Believe me it will seem more poignant now, and "losing" at Oscar will seem to fit.

Oh, aimi ! That is dreadful news ! (hug) Can you think of an excuse to go those 100 miles soon ?

Froggy, I'm free of Wednesday too !! As soon as my conference is over, I'm running to the cinema, forget about food, water, shelter, etc.

Couldn't wait; had to go for a PM matinee when an appointment got unexpectedly cancelled. And to my complete astonishment, the Oscar snub actually made it better-somehow more precious as I now feel like it's been threatened.  As those first guitar notes sounded and the shots of the tractor trailer unfolded, I found myself misting up immediately and a line from To Kill a Mockingbird leapt unbidden into my consciousness: " Heck. Atticus Finch. Someone's been after my children." It may not make any sense, but that's exactly the feeling I have right now. And perhaps not a complete coincidence as that is also one of my top five favorite films. I somehow want to protect BBM from all the ignorance and bigotry in the world. Guess I'm feeling all parental. Weird huh?! But I am resolved to cherish it even more and keep it close to my heart always. Must be time to take the "back to brokeback" pledge! ;D

I absolutely plan to see it again this weekend.  I hope it sticks around here.  If not, we might have to go to the Bay Area (where I'd love to meet Toadily and others!)

I just got back from a 6:30 viewing on Tuesday, March 7th. I went with a co-worker and his wife. Unfortunately, there was a woman with her boyfriend in front of us that talked and laughed frequently, which was kind of killing the whole mood. I actually moved to the first row so I could enjoy the last half hour of the film in peace. I wish my friends had joined me. Still, I think that they liked the film, regardless. This is the second time that this has happened to me. I am learning that the "rowdy, talkative" people tend to sit in the back, so I am going to gravitate toward the front from now on, neck strain be damned... :^) This is my 8th viewing to date. There were about 20-25 people in the theater, which I thought was quite a few considering it was a Tuesday night and the parking lot of the theater (they have about 12 screens) was quite empty...

I saw BBM at first time only a week ago (the premiere of BBM here in Prague was on March 2nd, actually, before the Oscar night was enterprised the whole nominates, only Munich got into a public in January), it was thursday night...
The next weekend was thirsty...
The movie is so charmful and overarching, so after it you feel blank, feel exinanition...but it is not bad, no, you have felt the life how YOU SHOULD feel.
You listened so beautiful, so sweet and old lonely sound and melodies, you flew like a wind, like an eagle over these great big mountains, you felt warm-hearted of seing that young true souls...

Sure, Go see it again...
I'd rather say - go FEEL it again

You know, Im so weird when it comes to this movies, sometime i actually contemplate whether I should go to the cinemea, buy tickets from the ticket machine where you use your debit, and just buy like a few hundred bbm tickets, even if i can't go see them all. I meant why not? What's stopping me?

Oh yeah, I few thousand dollars.
I have honestly seriously thought about it though. Am I insane? HAHA ;D

Insane...close. If you do buy many tickets, may I suggest that you can just pass those free tickets to people walking on the street? Perhaps you can change a few people's lives.  ;D

You are NOT insane, unless we both are!  I actually did ask for two tickets once, even though I was alone, and felt good giving BBM the box office increase.  I think buying a lot is just one way to contribute, but giving them away free would be an even better idea.  Or take people who need to see it and offer to pay for that AND the popcorn.

Well we don't have to buy extra tickets. Got ourselves a crew of 5 to go see it tomorrow, and everyone in attendance will be a "repeat". I have a friend in Ohio that didn't "get it" the first time, but the Cowboy and I can work him over real good. ;D ;D ;D
