can we celebrate the DVD release together?
« on: Mar 28, 2006, 07:24 PM »
I know the DVD will come out at different times in our different countries, but I'm wondering if there will be a way to somehow commemorate the movie together.  Can we hold simultaneous US, Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Russia, Japan, etc., etc. viewings??  Set up times when we'll watch all together?  I can't wait to see how the DVD release changes this forum!!!  Our community bonds will grow even stronger.  :)

Hello shieldmaid,

That is one great idea. Let's work on the details how this may work.

I'm quite sure friends from Italy, Spain and Southern France could do this with you, you're all around the Mediteranean Sea. ;)

I'm in!  I'll watch for further details.

Cool idea.  Kind of like "hands across the world", except with DVD's and BBM love. :)

I'm thinking maybe we could pick a date after several countries release the DVD--a Saturday in May?  And agree to watch at the same time, a certain time for each country/region/time zone.  We could do a live reactions thread like we did during the Golden Globes and Oscars.  Even maybe do some live polls or "1st annual ennisjack.com awards" for best Ennis scene, best Jack scene, biggest surprise on the small screen, most changed perspective on a scene after seeing it on the DVD, etc. . . .

I'm just brainstorming here . . . would love to hear others' ideas.  :)

This is a wonderful idea...reactions particularly when we are all fresh from a viewing would be really heartwarming - and lovely to think we will all be shedding tears in unison. :'(

I would imagine that its going to be a little quieter here on ennisjack.com April 4th   ;)

Sounds like a great idea. How cool would that be if we all pop in our DVD and watch it at the same time. It is the release date that causes a problem.

hm i was thinking we do a real-life gathering at someone's house, with a bigscreen TV.  I know a LOT of people from orange county, California are in here... where are you people? Seriously if someone takes charge and gets this going.. it'd be really great.  bringing fans all together, to watch.  and discuss.  wouldn't that be cool?

too bad i live with parents :( i can bring the DVD over.. well, im sure everybody else will want to bring it too lol.  But yeah someone lets get this going?

I think regional gathering is also a good idea. I am also hoping to evetually plan an international gathering. But this is another topic.

For now, we do a small scale for DVD release.  :)

Are we still on this?

A live thread of BBM viewing? Maybe not the whole movie but selected scenes.

I'm so excited to see that this thread got resurrected!  Maybe we could pick some dates and have live threads for viewing certain scenes?  I suggest that we do one or two per month in the summer, leading up to a viewing of the end of the summer on Brokeback in August.  Possible scenes:

1) Arriving at Aguirre's trailer
2) "No more beans"
3) The bear scene/Jack trying to wash Ennis's face
4) FNIT
5) On the mountain
6) SNIT
7) The farewell and Ennis's breakdown

And maybe we could coordinate multiple viewings of the same scene for different time zones--?

I would add the scene at Jack's parents's house

Yes great idea, shieldmaid.

Should we first decide a date and then the scene sequence - Maybe

1. Ennis and Jack on BBM
2. Separated
3. Reunion
4. Fishing trips
5. Heartbreaking & Flash back to the end

We can do five live threads for this and members who just get their DVD can join at any time regardless the order.

May I propose next Saturday or Sunday late afternoon, EST?

I'm tempted, it could be either Staturday or Sunday for me, we should try to setup a time that will both suit America, UK and Europe.

Sunday 8 pm sounds pretty good to me ( God, just remember the line 'and that harmonica don't sound quite right either'....brokeback got me real good, and it ain't over )...although I only have it on divx  :'(
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner.
All is well.
