Well, I looped that section and listened and listened with earphones... I did not hear it... lots of grunting... I heard a 'oooff!' and rustling, but not the "F**k  Me!"
I caught the "I love you' in the closet scene and even the 'I'm sorry" but not this...
Just as well...

No, you just come from a different country and culture where the word wasn't used as it is here, that's all.  You can't look at this movie from the point of view of your culture Tom.  I also grew up in the 40's 50's and 60's and it is a word I heard a lot from an ignorant stepfather and other adults.  Fortunately it wasn't until I went to work in the local shipyard that I picked up the word.  I wish I never had.

For those who can't hear it (and by "it" I mean what others are talking about) it is in two consecutive grunts, first the F word, then Me. 

It's definitely there.  But I don't think it's definite that this is what Jake is saying.  Might be, and I've only listed twice.  Buf it you want to hear for yourself, listen for one word per groan.

If I had to bet I'd say 60% likely that's what he's saying and 40% likely the power of suggestion and wishful thinking.

Listened for it tonight and it was there...................no doubt. Considering how delicate the marketing of this movie had to be I am not surprised that we are all finding things in the DVD that we never saw in the theater. I just lay back and enjoy what I see on myTV. I have BBM for my own and that's all I need.

<OT> I will. I find that wathing DVD with headphone is another great viewing experience when I was trying to hear Ennis say "I love you" last night. It sounds like Ennis and Jack were just right next to me.

I replayed the first tent scene, with headphones on and volume cranked to max, and I heard it, too. It was very muffled, hidden in between all the grunting and heavy breathing, but it was there. Someone (Patriot?) pointed out that these lines weren't in the screenplay, so it looks like another case of our boys ad-libbing brilliantly. Heath and Jake became Ennis and Jack. No wonder their performance blew Annie Proulx away! Both of them deserved Academy Awards for their accomplishments in BBM. Who would have thought that Jake would have the dedication to research his role by watching gay porn videos?  :o (Thanks, Patriot - I loved that!  ;D)

I don't know what to think, maybe I don't want to hear those words on film, although in original Proulx text it would be more appropriate, in place. Movie is like a kinder version of the novel. (I didn't replay it, maybe later..)

I agree.

Other thought, as I remember now, whiskey has quite bad side effects on me, too ;D (with that mount of w i would be under the table..or unconscious.. aww ::) what was i thinking like it's not the same thing being unconscious under table. no, i do not confess anything.)

So I've watched the movie three times in as many days, can ya say obsessed?
Why in the world do I read a post like this when I'm at work and have no access to the DVD?  Why do I have to wait at least another 8 hours to see this??? lol.
Gah, I have so many comments and questions about the movie, I guess I better get out of here and continue my journey throughout this wonderful board!!

Agree with Tom, if it's there for some of you, fine.  If not, that's even better.  As Tom said, it wasn't in the story, etc.  Can't imagine why they would put it in when everything was so meticulous about the film.  And as Tom said, f..k was not a word used prolifically at that time.  When f..k was said at that time, it meant something... now it is just a noun, verb, adverb, adjective used indiscriminately by persons who don't have an adequate vocabulary to get their idea across without profanity.  Rarely swear, but if I do then people know I am either very upset or angry.
