I always watch that scene and tried to put in his shoes and understand at least what he was doing or thinking in that time. one thing for sure was the he really wanted to see Jack again, and i truly believe he wanted to fix this since Jack was the one leading the meetings this time it was him trying to get some of jack attention. he wanted to know if jack was still upset or not in that way he could have an idea if that "thing" they have was going to continue. We know that Ennis moves slow i wondered how much time it took for him to send the postcard. Ennis is not good at talking and we don't have to mention writing. he must have tried to find the most polite words to not hurt jack.
i don't think he was aware that the "thing" was love until jack died :'( :'( :'( so sad to realize too late.
But the problem is that Ennis was so in his own fears to realize that he was loosing Jack and he killed in a certain way the jack he fell in love with in brokeback creating the jack that was more bitter and frustrated by not having Ennis
i think i go away from the topic a little bit and at the same time my coworker is looking me with a weird face since i'm crying :'( :'(
BINGO! A man who understands what happened!!!

when you watch the movie like 100 times you certainly understand at least something
You most certainly do Carlos. I hope I am saying this correctly.
Tengo sido decirles exactamente lo que usted ahora acaba de decir por meses. Gracias.
Plus, when you have the words of the director and screenplay writer, you can't go wrong! So, I believe we have you, possibly dirtbiker, and me who agree.
"So the story follows their lives in the curse of 20 years.
When one character realizes he had a taste of love it is too late. He missed it because the other character dies."
- Ang Lee, in an interview with Charlie Rose, December 2005
Diana Ossana: "And
then he goes up to Jack’s room and he finds his old shirt hanging tucked inside Jack’s,
and he realizes how much that man loved him—how deeply he loved him from the get-go.
