Brokeback Mountain contains numerous scenes that are touched with cinematic enchantment. Almost every scene is like a treasure. The first kiss in the tent is arguably the most passionate scene. (Love the way Ang shot it so the fire in the background danced between their lips) Ennis finding his shirt in Jack’s room is arguably the saddest moment. (It tore me apart)

But the gem... the OMEGA of Brokeback moments is the "Embrace from behind' flashback. Where it's placed in the film, in combination with the haunting music, allows it to evoke an emotional blend of melancholic saddens as well as utter bliss. The scene even feels imbued with all the emotional acuity of beautify realized tone poem. It’s the crucial, most blatant moment to render how much Ennis and Jack love each other and how their indelible bond will forever go unparalleled. A brief moment in their lives where both are fully at peace- their bodies close, gently swaying together in the mountain air. It's an achingly beautiful sequence.

I think I have to agree. As I sit here listening to All I Need by Radiohead, all I can do is cling to an agreement that this scene transcends and lives somewhere much softer than the surface of earth.

I love the scene after Ennis has already broken up with Cassie, and he's sitting at the table eating, and Cassie comes up and talks to him. Ennis looks so sad, so detached, and lonely, it makes you just want to hug him. And then he says, "I probably wasn't much fun anyway." It's a very "awwwww" moment for me.

The scene with Cassie is so close to the nadir of the cinematic curve of the film -- so soon after the intense Final confrontation.  I admit that my heart goes out to Cassie in this scene, but you get the feeling that Ennis at last understood that he had to break away, if only to keep her from further disappointment.

And when his hope is denied he's so sad...boy that drove a stick trough my heart

And it's more priceless-what can be in a positive or negative sense-because it confirms the lack of a real communication they have always had.In the end of this scene Jack(who has always had a word to say,to share and to make his feelings remarkable)seems to feel himself naked before Ennis in an emotional sense for having made this trip and what it means to him...and he's silent.And,if you realise it,Ennis,the real silent,the close in himself,the man with few words and an intense inner life,wants to start a conversation-perhaps to find a solution for them during these days?-murmuring a shy "Jack...",but his lover runs from him without a word.It's curious this "change" of reactions and attitudes in them...

When i put myself in that situation i also would be running off.
This scene is so close to my heart because i was once in the same situation..so i can fully understand Jack.

I think that in one sense, she did shame him in that scene.  As you had implied, it is a pendant that reinforces the final confrontation scene with Jack.  To a certain extent, Jack and Cassie speak the same message.

The latter part of this 2-part scene is what makes it difficult for me.  But watching the movie for the very first time, you are indeed made glad by Jack's optimism as he drives to Ennis's home, and are deeply moved by the rejection.

You're welcome,Anaconda¡   Yes,you say "Jack runs off without a word because he only heard the denial,he couldn't listen to anything else...",I guess there's implicit in this phrase that he didn't listen,whatever his feelings were.I also understand Jack here because there was several times in which I felt the same-also for the other person's fears before society and before her own feelings-.But it doesn't mean that I don't believe their lack of communication as one of the main faults they had as a couple.And that Jack,who was always listening to Ennis rejections and denials,for his disgrace,that time made his deceivement greater than his need to know why...

This is certainly one of the most moving scenes in the movie, so soon after the discovery of the shirts.  Not even the presence of John Twist marred it for me.  Perhaps his presence even hightened it for me, because Ennis felt that he had to repress his feelings that that point.

Yes,it's almost heartbreaking the communication based in a deep respect and understanding that is established between these two persons; each one of them know what the other knows but there´s a main point both of them know.That they're the two persons in the world who has loved Jack the most and whom he had loved the most also.Indeed,Thomas,Old Twists presence only serves to increase this silent communication between them,far beyond the words they can't pronounce before him.

Following suit, I find this haunting and bittersweet. A reckoner of sour timing coming to slap me around. She knows, yeah. And then the scenario of Ennis having met her while Jack was alive, enters my mind and kicks my ass. I think the whole chamber of the Twists' is remarkable, and how it sits so robustly planted under that vivid sky enchants me to no end...

I agree, her eyes are priceless.

We'll never know, but Ennis finding her acceptance of he and Jack's love , he was shown everyone does'nt hate , he knew he had found a true friend. Wether that would have been enough? who knows? His eyes and her eyes tell the story of what could've been. I felt like Jack's sprit was in that room all along watching. He was so close,yet so far . The forced restarint that Ennis had to maintain throughout his meeting with Jack's parents in LF is the element that gives these scenes a subdued beauty, even as they break our hearts...
