Next scene:
Jack,  shows Ennis his rodeo belt buckle.  Ennis is eating a can of beans.

Ennis:Hmm. . .Don’t rodeo much myself.
I mean what’s the point of ridin’ some piece a’ stock for eight seconds?

While Ennis is talking  ,Jack looks at him and a little smirk appears on his face,
Ennis noticing his reaction to his story, asks : Whut?

JACK (still smiling): That's more words than you've spoke in the past two weeks....    :)

Jack, smiling, takes the bait:  THE HELL THEY ARE!
[they were] both high school dropout country boys with no prospects, brought up to hard work and privation, both rough-mannered, rough-spoken, inured to the stoic life.

Ennis is sitting on a log in front of the campfire.

Jack jumps up and pretends to be be riding a bull while he yells:  Yee haw!  I'm spurring his guts out!  I'm waving to the girls in the stands!  He's kicking to high heaven, but he can't jackboard ME!  NO WAY!  Yee haw!

Jack stumbles and falls among some supplies.  Ennis just laughs.

After he is satisfied that the tent is standing in the right position, Ennis sits on the log by the fire trying to warm his hands .

ENNIS: Yeah, well, if I'd got lucky that harmonica would've broken too.

Jack laughs...
