Aguirre, answers  not even looking at Jack: You're wasting your time here.

Jack, playing nervously with his hat: What, you ain't got nothin'.......  nothin' up on Brokeback?

Aguirre gives Jack a long look: Ain't got no work for YOU.

There is an awkward moment as Jack looks at Aguirre, turns and starts for the door.  He pauses and turns back to Aguirre, and asks:  Ennis del Mar aint been around, has he?

Twist, you guys weren't gettin' paid to leave the dogs babysit the sheep while you stemmed the rose......, now get the hell out of my trailer. (Jack turns around and leaves slamming the door)

New Scene.  Alma is putting up some laundry to dry.  She spies Ennis's truck approaching from the distance...

New scene.  Alma is back inside the ranch house, doing more laundry at the kitchen sink.  The radio blares as she scrubs clothes on the washboard.  From the doorway, we see Ennis get out of the truck and come in.  She approaches Alma from behind and puts his hands on her shoulders.

Ennis:  How are ma' girls doin'?

Ennis looks out the kitchen window briefly before he heads to the back of the house towards the girls' bedroom.  He gives Junior a kiss before he goes over to the cot to pick up the crying baby.  As he tries to soothe the baby, Junior gets out of her little bed and runs towards Ennis.  Alma calls out:  Ennis, could you wipe Alma Jr's nose?

Ennis: I could if I had three hands.

Ennis holds both babies, kisses and tries to comfort them.

New Scene.  The bedroom.  Ennis has just come in, after putting the children to sleep in the adjoining room.  He sits on the edge of the bed, tired...

Alma approaches and embraces Ennis from behind.

-Ennis:Yeah.Jenny stopped her coughing earlier on.I think we should take the girls into town this weekend.Get them an ice-cream or something.
-Alma:Ennis...can't we move to town?
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

New scene:  Jack is astride a bull, in the chute, ready to go...

Announcer over the PA:  Let 'er rip and snort, boys!  Jack Twist, hangin' on for dear life!

Jack rides out of the chute, doing his best to hang on as the bull bucks, but he comes flying off, lands heavily on the ground...

Jack rolls quickly out a' the way to keep from gettin' trampled by the bull

ANNOUNCER: Ah, send in the clowns . . . OK, . . . a fine ride from Mr. Twist, four seconds . . . .

JACK: (gets up, limping, pained, and disappointed) Shit.

Meanwhile, the clowns run around hollering at and distracting the bull.

ANNOUNCER: Give 'em a hand folks, our very own rodeo clowns . . .

Next scene: Jack's sittin' alone at the rodeo bar drinkin' his beer. One of the men who works as a clown walks to the bar orders a beer. His resemblance to Ennis does not go unnoticed . . .

Jimbo replies:  No thanks, cowboy...if I was to let every rodeo hand I pulled a bull off buy me liquor I'd have been an alcoholic long ago.

Jack is still smiling and looking at him.  He looks back uneasily, stands up, takes his beer:  Pulling bulls off you buckaroos is just my job...save your money for your next entry fee, cowboy...  and walks away to the pool table where his friends gather around and start talking to him...

Jack stares dejectedly at the bar . . .

Bartender: You ever try calf ropin'?

Jack: Do I look like I can afford a fu**in' ropin' horse?

Jack stomps outta' the bar.

New scene.  July 4 at Riverton.  Evening, at the fireworks display.  Ennis, Alma, and their 2 girls are looking for a spot to watch the fireworks.  They are carrying a picnic basket and seem intent in enjoying the evening with the other people of Riverton who have shown up for the event.

Ennis: Shouldn't we move a little closer?

-Alma:No. Come on, let's don't. Jenny'll get scared

Two bikers looking for some mess are sitting next to them. They begin to speak loud:

-Biker 1:Look at this crowd. Bound to be a lot of pussy on the hoof in a crowd like this.

-Biker 2:All swelled up with patriotic feeling and ready to be humped like a frog.

Biker 1 : f*** you. Asshole. Probably quit givin' it to his wife after his kids was born.
Biker 2: You know what that's like.
Biker 1. Yeah.

The Bikers glare at Ennis.  Ennis glares back at the Bikers.

Alma (nervously):  let's move, Ennis.  Let's just move...

Ennis hands Jenny to Alma. Slowly gets up and walks back to where the bikers sit.

ENNIS: Now I don't want any trouble from you, but you need to shut your slop bucket mouth, you hear me?

BIKER 2: You oughta' listen to your old lady then.

ENNIS: That right?

BIKER 2: Yeah, move somewhere else.

      Fireworks explode along with Ennis's emotions . . . .
Ennis grabs him, throws him to the ground, swings around, kicks Biker 1 in the face, knocking him out.

ENNIS: Whut about it? You wanna’ lose about half your fu**in’ teeth? Huh?

BIKER 2: Not tonight bud, I'd sure rather not.
