Thank you, Lilie.  I sure hope they know that they have indeed made a difference to so many people.  God help us if nothing ever moves us anymore...

Update

My latest correspondence with Frances at the Old Stile Press.

I shall go over to our binders to collect the book which they promise to finish by Friday - as long as the promised blizzards are not too bad.  We have been having much more snow than usual for this stage of the year and, unlike the US and Canada, we never seem to know how to cope on the roads.
I'll keep you informed and with any luck  the book should be on its way to JG on Monday next (20 March). Hope that will be OK for you.

Frances

My response.

Hello Frances,

Thanks for the update.  I just want everything to be 'perfect', of course.  :-)  Certainly no need on my part to hurry this.

Thomas

I only just discovered this thread so my thoughts are a little late but nonetheless heartfelt.

Thomas, what a wonderful gesture on your part. You are truly a kind and generous soul.I am sure Jake and Heath and everyone else involved in your thankyou gifts will greatly appreciate them. The letter you wrote to Jake to accompany the portfolio is very touching and comes from the heart.I feel Jake will immediately recognise that and know what Brokeback Mountain and Jake's part in it means to you.

Thanks Jennis.  I really don't expect to hear from either of their people, but it is enough if they knew they are greatly appreciated.

Incidentally, this thread contains the only copy of the letter to Jake.  And by some mishap, I no longer have a copy of a very similar letter I wrote to Heath and Michelle  (the dealers are a bit difficult here).

I already have something for Ang Lee in the pipeline.  The pup tent has put this temporarily on hold.  It will come from Kyoto, so I will again have to send the accompanying letter by email.

Well, even if you don't expect to hear from them,i think you should get acknowledgement of some sort Thomas,i really do.I know you didn't do it for that, but you deserve it...I'm sure Ang will appreciate it and you should most definately hear something back from this quarter i think. ..Pup tent*exciting*

Thank you Asali.  If they knew a fraction of the love and appreciation they have in this forum, they would be scared...

It is hard for me to look at this thread.  It's very emotional for me too.  I am comforted that you feel the same way, and I thank you so much for this.

The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.
