Well I don't know about you non-canucks but I just went to the local Blockbuster and I didn't see it anywhere!  I went to the front desk and asked about it and they said it doesn't come out here till Feb 6th! :X I said "well on their site it says jan 23rd..maybe thats only for the US?"  She told me that movies are usually released the same day with Canada & US.  Maybe there was tech problems or something.  Well if any of you non-canucks got it already please write that review...we wanna hear!

Well, I will be getting it for a few reasons even if there is no additional footage (deleted or otherwise).

First and formost it seems that in my area (northern San Francisco Bay area) the orginal release copies all had a glitch. I returned mine several times and all of them had the same problem. In the Thanksgiving scene at Jack's house there is a terrible place in the DVD where all of the action and sound just stops, holds for a few seconds and then continues to play normally. . . and it's right where Jack is delivering his great line to his father-in-law (telling him to sit down etc). It's very frustrating to watch so I will be getting the Collector's Edition hoping that it will be a "clean" copy. If it were not for that glitch I may have considered not getting this new edition.

Secondly. . . . as a proud member of my local Gay Community I want to help support BBM.

Thirdly . . now that I know it's included . . I REALLY want that postcard! (the reproduction of the one in the film).  <^(

I just went this morning to HMV and Futureshop to buy the Brokeback Mountain Collector edition and to my sadness I was told that its release is set back to February 6 2007, Futureshop was totally ignorant as usual, however HMV was kind enough to take my name and phone number down and will call me to let me know as soon as it comes available. I am getting two copy, one I get get my hands to open and the other for safe keep with all the other accumulated items. BTW: this is the case here in Vancouver, B.C., Canada

It's official.  I went to BestBuy during lunch and found out that the DVD DOES NOT have deleted scenes.  That site on Universal saying there is, isn't accurate.  I also looked at the HD-DVD version of it.  It has both the HD and standard def DVD on each side (2 sided).  I guess I will order both of them since I have an HD-DVD player and if nothing else, for the paultry extras and the postcards on the collector's edition....

Leo, that pause in the scene at the Thanksgiving scene is the change in layer that your DVD player is making.  It's quite noticeable in cheaper players where there isn't any memory buffer so the laser has to reposition itself to the next layer.  The more expensive players have a lookahead buffer so you won't see that change in layer...

So I'm a little confused.  Did you actually see it in front of you at Bestbuy?  Why will you be ordering them instead of buying them right there? ???

That sucks.  I guess I'll hold off buying a HD DVD player.  I'll wait until a BBM DVD with deleted scenes is released.

Yes, I saw the DVD.  I went there during lunch.  I just didn't buy it from there as I am ordering both the HD and collector's edition DVDs from Amazon.com which has the same sale price on the collector's edition as BestBuy.  If I order more than $25, then I get free shipping, so I had to order both to get the price above $25.  If not, I would've bought the DVD from BestBuy.  BestBuy's HD-DVD is not on sale like on Amazon.com

    Like some DVD expert said in an article I remember reading, Criterion will probably release one with deleted scenes *years* from now, when and if they buy the rights to it...   ::)

      I just got back from the store. The postcards are nice but I haven't gotten the chance to sit and have a look at much else. Yes. I caved ;D But this still doesn't mean my petition is void  ^^)

        Can never have too many copies. And you know what? If they end up releasing another edition later on down the road it'll look nice in the collection. To go from the bare minimum of the first dvd to the most recent and whatever features and extra would be included. Nice little display and tribute to the movie and to the boys.

        when i first heard about a BBM's collector's edition coming out, 2 weeks ago i was damn excited and I'm sure all of you were too! heh.  I can't wait.. im going to check my local DVD stores tonite and will post in a few hours..  :)

        Even though this edition falls far too short of our expectations, I have decided to get at least one copy.   Well maybe two.  One copy must never be opened.

        I just got back from the store- and as already mentioned no deleted scenes.  :X At first I couldn;t find it and I was getting pissy but then I found the *last* copy on the shelf. I walked around with it and then as much as it pained me to do so, I put it back. I will eventually cave and get it because I really, really, really, really,really, really,really, really want the postcards  ;D
