I don't think there's anything missing from this collector's edition since the listed minutes is 134, same as the current release and theater release. The added minutes are from the deleted/unseen footage I think. If you have PAL, there is a difference in a few minutes due to the NTSC/PAL standards difference - the PAL version plays ever so slightly faster so the actual clocked time is less for the PAL market.

Thanks Jennis!!! OMG I will have to get a HD DVD player just to play BBM. I always thought that HD DVD is "better" than Blu-Ray due to the fact that HD encoded discs use a better MPEG2 codec than Blu-Ray even though the latter can hold more GB's of info.

(Similar to the VHS vs. Beta debate...)

I think a major film such as BBM will be relaesed in both HD & Blu-Ray formats.

In a way it's a shame the film was not made ten years from now. Philips is launching HD3D TV in 2008. The 3D binocular stereo effects from those 1950's films, on screens which you watch without polarized lenses.

This is always so insane, how we have to keep up with the technology. Anyway, Saul, your post in particular, b*tching about bleeding us suckers for our every dollar -- well, we are suckers then, and so be it. First you b*tch, then you say, OMG I can't wait to pre-order.

Anyway, it's been the same for years. My Star Trek example. First you just had to watch it on TV, that was it. Then, some people recorded audio only on casette tapes. Then VCR's came out, but then there was the Beta vs. VHS thing. So, then we all had videotapes recorded. Then they came out with official videotapes, version after version, and some of us (not me) would get them all. Then TV would have some new and improved version of the series, such as with commentary, so we'd all want to record those. Okay, then here come DVD's -- there have been several versions of those, too -- a series with two episodes to one DVD...then a special collector's edition in special packaging. Now they've done the enhanced visuals to the episodes, and are showing them, and some people are recording onto DVD's, but then they'll come out with the DVD's, and then we have to deal with the HD and Blu-Ray thing. And I'm not talking about one movie, but 79 episodes and a slew of movies.

I didn't really expect you to read that paragraph word for word...it's just that it's all so crazy, I give up! Except for desperately wanting the new deluxe edition of BBM, oh boy, drooling already.

You could just settle for the collectors edition hun.Be the same stuff,just not HD

We are indeed! But I learned my lesson from being a mad Star Trek collector...and I'm not quite as daft about it now as I was then. I mean, I am totally daft, if it could be called that, about BBM, emotionally daft over the edge, just that I'm not collecting everything! Gladly, lots of what I want is digital stuff -- pics and caps and vids, so my computer is full, but at least my 2nd bedroom and garage aren't full...yet.

Hi Kathy.

Please make sure you have a full backup of all your data onto RRCDs or to an external hard-drive.

Because:

1. If disaster stikes you would loose it all &
2. A lot of stuff is now vanishing from the internet. You are in a way keeping it safe for us all.

Oh, AR-OC type that I am, I have back-ups and back-ups of back-ups. I need to update soon though -- every day more treasures. I have an external hard drive, besides CD's and DVD's.

Then there is only one more thing you can do. Keep a copy at a separate location. In the event of fire, flood or theft you will still have copies of your treasure.

I do have my external hard drive separate, not hooked up to computer, and it's small and easy to grab if I had to leave in an emergency...but of course I would like a second hard drive with all my stuff in a different location, say at work, but then what if there were a fire there, too, and besides, keeping these things current is a daily job just about. We need a Fort Knox remote back-up system we can back-up to on-line...but then Y2K will happen or something.

Actually, did I share with everyone here that fascinating article I read about exactly this subject? The ephemeral nature of what we're all doing these days, and what to do about it. They say that in the future, people will know more about Abe Lincoln than about business in 2006.

Get yourself one of the external hard drives, so you don't have to write things onto CD's and/or DVD's. It's so much easier, and mine is 120 GB.

I'm only barely borderline AR/OC, I mean compared to people who are seriously diagnosed and can't function. Also, a recovering perfectionist. But I'm an artist -- that's my excuse for everything.

Esmelily, there are a lot of US sites that sell internationally. Universal doesn't allow non-US sales since they *are* the releasing studio. If you can't find a place to purchase from directly, just let one of us US brokies know and we can get it for you
