If it weren't for the shoes, I'd think he looked like the Artful Dodger in this ensemble...

I love the eyes...

Wanderers in that happy valley, | Through two luminous windows, saw | Spirits moving musically, | To a lute's well-tuned law...

The blue of his eyes and the arc of his brows.  The overall effect is quite limpid.  Crystal pools reflecting the dome of the blue blue sky.

Does he look better in a V-neck?

This is a wonderful pic.  His eyes are really haunting.  There is a softness in his face here that contrasts with his sister's.

Genius is the talent or natural endowment that gives the rule to art. Since talent is an innate productive ability of the artist and as such belongs itself to nature, we could also put it this way: Genius is the innate mental predisposition (ingenium) through which nature gives the rule to art.  (Kant)

The glint in his finger is that of a ring, I assume.    Even when he frowns, there is poetry.

Black is a great colour on Jake.  <^(

Yes, I do agree.  Black highlights his beauty, especially the eyes.

There is a certain Jake Gyllenhaal look that simply overwhelms.  This is one such pic.  Why is this so?  Is it the play between symmetry and asymmetry?  Between briliance and softness?  Between light and dark?  I don't know.  But I know the look when I see it.

Even when his eyes are not directed at you, the viewer, there is a residual heat and fire from those eyes that catches you and does not let go.

The curve of the profile is like music.  It outlines the harmony of skin and bone, of color and feeling.

I know that some of us are not keen on this particular look, but it is in such a look that you can appreciate superb definition and form as far as his face is concerned.

And again, in this one.  It is not about being "pretty".  It is in the expressive power of lines and the face.  It is sculptural.  It is about form.

Having appreciated the basics, the flourishes of hair and apparel can be better appreciated.  The form is now adorned with features that delight us because they are so mutable.

The harmonies of hairstyle and facial highlights, color and clothing, act as an overlay -- visual and tactile counterpoint to skin and bone, eyes, nose, and lips.
