I loved reading this, especially about his shaved head.  So, the buzzed-off hair makes men feel badass, is that it?  Finally got one explanation, at least, for why they might like to do this.  Besides just being able to not bother with hair.  And I like how Jake said it also takes away any sense of vanity.  Interesting.

Love this pic!  I've seen others in this series, but not this one.  Love Jake and his dog. :)  And the whole interesting tableau, with the folks in the window.  And of course, Jake's interesting pose.

I think that this is perfect! Most beautiful in the world.

Yes, definitely something about this picture -- a beautiful profile...but just a beautiful look on his face.  And the funky jacket, I like.

I can't find my THUD smiley, but this requires atleast 1000 of them!!

Agreed.  I don't exactly have the words to describe this kind of look that he has, but it's...THUD.  (And Thomas isn't here to help me find the words :)

Thanks :) Nothing else is new, we just looove to say that he's beautiful all the time, cos he is <^( <^(

The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

I like this one, Jake in London, very appropriate for this weekend :)
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

When he was a kid, sooo cute, and now, sooo handsome..

This is so true -- cute kid, boy hottie, handsome man.  But someone said, I forget who, that prior to BBM she knew JG only as nerdy boy character and could not imagine him as an attractive gay cowboy with Heath Ledger.  Funny.  I've said before, I like that I hadn't seen either of them before, so my vision of Ennis and Jack was pure of any preconceived notions.

I'll be glad to explain it. For whatever reason, Internet Explorer keeps images around as bitmaps. When you go to save an image in IE, the first thing that happens is IE checks to see if the image is in the cache. If the image is not in the cache, the only representation IE has of the image (without downloading it again) is mshtml's internal representation, which is a bitmap. So when the cache is full and the image cannot be download to cache, it defaults to its bitmap form. Clearing the cache usually does the trick, but other times there is another problem. I wouldn't worry about that though unless you still can't save as a jpeg even after clearing your cache.

Now, to apologize for that OTness, here are a couple of pictures...

Oh boy -- we have a techno-babe here!  Thank you for that explanation re .bmp's and cache!

And the pics!! This top one is one of my very, very favorites of Jake...and of course I adore the moment between Jake and Heath at the Oscars (GG's? I forget).

Omg look at him in this pic...he is totally mind-blowingly gorgeous.

I think I might just pass out.

I am so jealous of that woman....its Gillian Anderson, right?  Whoever she is, I hate her.

Well I love Gillian Anderson, so I'm jealous of Jake getting to be with her as much as I'm jealous of her getting to be with him.

How interesting, the bitmap vs jpeg thing.  At least, you can always convert the bitmap into a jpeg.

Yes, I can convert, but that would be later, and with saving hundreds of pix, I'm not going to go through and take the time to do that.  That's why I have a 120 GB portable hard drive for pix, no worries about file size.

Jake suffered by having 3 serious movies out all at the same time.  Jarhead did not get enough credit here in the US, although the critics were mostly favorable.  Jake was excellent in this film.  And it is not your typical war movie.

Jake said that Swoff was one of his most challenging roles.  I believe him.

That's very interesting, and too bad for Jake.  I guess they can't help that, not the producers or film company, nor the distributors -- too many variables in getting a movie out.

I still do intend to get all JG movies, and HL movies too.  (I live fairly budgeted on purpose -- DVD's are not like in my weekly budget, but an indulgence.  I'm close to getting out of some decades of credit card debt -- that's where my money goes, and trying to do something toward my future, beginning at this late date!  My hippiedom didn't teach me anything about thinking about my financial future.  Anyway, I got a nice Christmas bonus at work...and I always think:  be practical? or indulge?  A bit of both I think...and all of JG DVD's is definitely on my list of indulgences.  And I apologize for being off topic...

Yes, you're right: especially in the NYC series.  Hard to say why.  The impeccable style.  The slight gauntness in the face that makes the eyes seem even more brilliant.  The soft almost indiscernible, the almost otherworldly beauty.

Beautiful words about a beautiful man, Thomas.  We sit here every day and talk about this fascinating man, and sometimes the words aren't easy -- like trying to put the experienc of music into words -- but you have said it perfectly here.

Interesting question.  He was preparing to be in shape for both films simultanesouly, no?  Anyway, there is still some chest hair discernible in BBM.  Which one is his more natural look?  Don't really know.  :)

Time for a lunch break!  Be back shortly to continue...

You know, only this morning, watching BBM while London gathering was watching it in the theater, did I notice a bit of chest hair on Jack/Jake in the SNIT scene.  Previously, I had always thought of him as having no chest hair, but I think that's because when we see him lying there in the tent he has his hand over the top part of his chest, and that's where most of it is.  But we know he's got a lot, from all the pics of Jake we see.

Thomas, this is probably too personal and you can just ignore me...but you're Asian and I think probably have not an abundance of chest hair.  So, do you like a man with a lot of chest hair, or clean-chested?  Sometimes we like what is opposite of us, sometimes we like what is the same as us.

Nothing strange.  Heath is 6'1" and Jake is 6'.  Taking into account Jake's hair and the absence of it on Heath in these pix, I am sure we can account for the illusion.  :)

Also, Heath is shown bending his knees a little in some of the pix (see below).

Okay -- it's the Heath bending his legs that made Jake look taller in the picture I was talking about it.  I wasn't looking at the tops of their heads for height, but at their shoulders.  You can always see Heath is taller there, at the shoulders.  Actually, though, I thought Heath was 6'2" and Jake was 6'.  But there's only an inch difference, huh?  Mystery solved.  Thanks.

My dad was 6' and I always liked that height.  But also I like shorter.  My mom's side, all the men are short-ish.  Besides, if I wanted to be with a man, I prefer someone not so tall.  I don't like feeling like "the little woman."  (I'm 5'5".)  I know some women like that, but I don't.  That's why it's nice being with women, more the same size...if that matters to one at all.  Actually, nothing matters when you fall in love, or when you find a soulmate.  We could be a zebra and a giraffe...
