The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

Time for a lunch break!  But first:

Congratulations to Maggie on her 2007 Golden Globes nomination for Best Actress in "SherryBaby".  This partially erases the Jake snub of 2006.

You know, only this morning, watching BBM while London gathering was watching it in the theater, did I notice a bit of chest hair on Jack/Jake in the SNIT scene.  Previously, I had always thought of him as having no chest hair, but I think that's because when we see him lying there in the tent he has his hand over the top part of his chest, and that's where most of it is.  But we know he's got a lot, from all the pics of Jake we see.

Thomas, this is probably too personal and you can just ignore me...but you're Asian and I think probably have not an abundance of chest hair.  So, do you like a man with a lot of chest hair, or clean-chested?  Sometimes we like what is opposite of us, sometimes we like what is the same as us.

kathy

I can like both: it depends on the person.  And a golden mean (not too much, not too little) is always great.  :)

Some people say that there is an intense erotic delight one can get from absolutely smooth lovers.  I understand this in the sense that nothing gets in the way.  And one does not have to manuever gingerly around -- as in the case of beards, for instance.  But there are also carnal delights that one can enjoy with hirsute partners -- also of a tactile and sensory nature.

Let us just say that I dislike people who completely shave all their body hair as much as I disapprove of people who are much too hairy.  :)

...Actually, nothing matters when you fall in love, or when you find a soulmate.  We could be a zebra and a giraffe...

kathy

So true.  It could be a bit challenging in bed, but in the end, it doesn't matter.

I sometimes think, though, that it's mostly Maggie.  She's always the one hugging him, nice vice-versa.  He hugs her also, but it seems at her instigation.  She's always doing the older sister thing, and I guess she adores her baby brother.  He loves her, but perhaps is mostly just tolerating her hugging him.  Like, gimme a break, Mags -- you gotta do that dumbass hugging me all the time?

Just being funny, but I can see that as part of the sibling dynamic between them.

kathy

It's also a guy thing, as well as a a baby brother thing...

Nice!  In his overcoat.  (I saw that you wear an overcoat and hat, Chicagoan that you are.  That's such a fine look, that we so seldom see here in San Diego.)  The tie clip is a kind of vintage touch, too.  Or not vintage, maybe...but do men wear tie clips these days?  I don't think I see them very often.

kathy

I wish we had more pix of him in overcoats and formal winter gear.  :)

Jake looks good in pencil.  This artist has a nice touch.

kathy

Jake is a fit subject for works of Art.  In the olden days, they would paint him as a god in the palaces...
