Here I am ready to leave the house, and the tears are still welling up - and then when you add in Jack & Ennis it's just too much.  Thought I was pretty much over this reaction, but wow this is a big one.  Had not thought of this poem in a long time, but it is so apt.  Now must go,get rid of the red eyes and out into the world.

les Dieux me sont amis
« Reply #905 on: Mar 21, 2006, 11:41 AM »

O blanche Tyndaris, les Dieux me sont amis:
Ils aiment les Muses Latines;

Ici se plaisent à gémir;

Oh, white Tyndaris, the gods are friends to me:
They love the Latin Muses;
And dill and myrtle and thyme from the hills
Thrive in the meadows they gave me.

Come! My beloved ring-doves, delighting in grief,
Here are pleased to moan;
And beneath dense leaves it is sweet to sleep
To the sound of running springs.

- Leconte de Lisle (Tyndaris)

Veggio co' bei vostri occhi un dolce lume
« Reply #909 on: Mar 21, 2006, 02:06 PM »

 Veggio co' bei vostri occhi un dolce lume,
 Che co' miei ciechi già veder non posso;
 Volo con le vostr'ale senza piume;
 Col vostr'ingegno al ciel sempre son mosso;
 Come luna da sè sol par ch'io sia;

 I see through your lovely eyes a sweet light
 which through my blind ones I yet cannot see;
 I carry with your feet a burden
 which with my lame ones I cannot;
 I fly with your wings, having none of my own;
 with your spirit toward heaven I am always moving;
 by your will I turn pale or blush,
 cold in the sun, warm in the coldest weather.
 Within your will alone is my will,
 my thoughts within your bosom are born,
 in your breath are my words.
 I am like the moon, alone,
 which our eyes cannot see in the heavens
 except that it is illumined by the sun.

-Michelangelo Buonarroti (Sonetto XXX -- For the beautiful Tommaso Cavalieri [The Jake Gyllenhaal of his time ;)])

Yeeeesssss! A little bit of italian poetry!
Grazie!

Very particular picture Lost_Girl. The one with Verlaine, I mean.

Begli occhi!
« Reply #912 on: Mar 21, 2006, 02:34 PM »

 A voi che l'accendeste
 Raccomando il mio fuoco, occhi adorati,
 In voi coi raggi amati
 Gemino, sol risplende
 Che l'ombra del mio duol
 Dilegua e strugge.

Tissues...pleeeeaaasssssse!!!!!

I think we should take a break at this -- yes, thinking about this early in the morning is very difficult for one's emotional wellbeing.

I should know better than to reflect on the scene of the shirts at day's first light.   :'(

It's late evening for me ... and it is going to be hard going to bed not thinking about our boys!...and the shirt scene..and the HUG scene...and the last meeting...and Ennis/Heath!!!

L'alba
« Reply #918 on: Mar 21, 2006, 03:30 PM »

 Stelle tristi, spegnetevi incorrotte!
 Morir debbo.

 The dawn divides the darkness from the light,
 And my sensual pleasure from my desire,
 O sweet stars, the hour of death is now at hand:
 A love more holy sweeps you from the skies.

 Gleaming eyes, O you who'll ne'er return,
 sad stars, snuff out your uncorrupted light!
 I must die, I do not want to see the day,
 For love of my own dream and of the night.

 Envelop me, O Night in your maternal breast,
 While the pale earth bathes itself in dew;
 But let the dawn rise from my blood
 And from my brief dream the eternal sun

-Gabriele d'Annunzio (The dawn divides the darkness from the light)

If we were to create a spearate one for poetry, it would invariably fill up with pictures!  ;)

I understand cara1158. It is currently posted in the moderator section for a decision.  I will not vote on this, of course.

Your input is appreciated, as all other input. :)

Lost_Girl, it is best that you wait.  :)  I hope the other moderators will arrive at a quick decision.
