I refer to this condition as PLAG. ;)
Tony Curtis and Anthony Perkins (years ago); Johnny Depp and River Phoenix (not too long ago); Jared Leto, Elijah Wood, and Jake (these days) are photographed with that scruffy look (along with sometimes frumpy clothes) due to PLAG. They are uncomfortable because they are Pretty Like a Girl! They hit the top of the gene pool..they are gorgeous..and downplay it...and save it for the movies I guess! Who knows!
Rosie O'Donnell had a joke from the mid 90s that if she looked like Sharon Stone, [Rosie] would run around buck naked in the A&P so everyone would see.
