I've got to agree with this. Looking at that sepia toned deleted pic, I get to craving the life of it. So much could have been told with its coming to life; it could have just been one loving peck on the lips against so much bitter space falling towards their earth and their Brokeback Mountain. They (but more appropriately) we had to endure a long long stretch of desolate separation and its accessories.
No fault in the movie's direction, but like Kathy said, for us great fans at least there was the short story to fill in some spaces.

i agree with you guys its a shame we never seen much passion between them in the older years, i mean i know they argued but they were still very much in love with each other we know that but it wasnt illustrated much in the older years.

I just watched the movie last night and I agree with you guys. Ever time I read the SS again, I always remeber that one part, wishing to see some of it in the actual movie. We needed a little bit more, because as the story unfolded, the loniless and sadness grows. If they shared one last kiss, it could show us that no matter how many years pass, they still deeply love each other. But for now, all I have to do is rejoice in the small scene when Ennis' arm is around Jack..that part always is so  sweet, I think.. :\'(

I agree with Kathy and Thomas, this is such a tense sense, and a powerful one too.  The way Jack's looking at Alma, knowing that he's leaving with her husband. All those things unsaid, but that look.....says so much.  And Ennis, eager to leave, to be out of there and back with Jack.

You're welcome kathy and christie.  I distinctly remember this part of the film.  It's intense because of 2 things: we read discomfort in Jack's eyes, and we can't see any reaction on Ennis's face, because his back is to us...

It is a wonderful stidy in contrasts, I think.  The picture reveals so much about their characters, IMO.
