I love here the central figure of Jack following Ennis down the hill right before they go the shirts bloodied.  Jack's pose is caught beautifully in a moment of unstable equilibrium.

I noticed that, too.  Is this not the moment he is about to twirl the lasso, to hook around Ennis's feet; and is why this posture at this moment, about to try to rope Ennis in where he wants him.  I like "unstable equilibrium," both for the physical posture and what is occuring at that moment.

I love seeing this shot like this, with the entire background, down there where the horses are, etc.  How far Jack walked up the hill -- and in Ennis's sights as he did so.  There is a whole world of story right in those moments.

There is some white manmade structure in the upper center background, not supposed to be there, I would think.  I mean, not there in the movie-story.  Unless it would have been some field-storage place.

That this is the camp that they are leaving makes it all the sadder...  And interesting how Jack began dismantling it before Ennis even returned from the sheep.

Never mind about that structure -- that's probably the river!

Oh, this is right up my alley. I cling to these thoughts; beautifully noted, Kathy.  :^^)
What a gorgeous shot, for sure.  (t)

I've never seen this shot before. I just experienced a wave of PBS.
A reminder Brokies...there is no known cure for PBS.  It's merely managed.

Yes, it is exactly that moment.  I guess we also get a feeling of anticipation on what is about to happen next!
