when jack danced for ennis

I keep thinking back to the scene where jack sort of danced a jig for ennis.  He was drinking at the time right?

In some cultures, dancing for another person can be an attempt to tantalize.  Was this his intent subconsciously?  I realize he was fully clothed.

Hello manila_rocks.  I think Jack was not dancing, but was pretending to ride a rodeo bull.  The fact that Proulx named him 'Twist' because of his passion to ride things thru (in the case of Ennis) makes this scene very poigniant.

Yes.  Poigniant is the English word that best describes this scene.   It made a profound impact on my brain.

I didn't think that his "bronco buster" showoff was specifically a "tantalizing" of Ennis, but it sure showed many other things: that Jack and Ennis could talk to each other, that Ennis could make fun of Jack's 'career' and Jack could reply in fun; show the 'rodeo f***up' that Ennis's father had described, fall on his ass, and still laugh.  Ennis is essentially asking him to shatter a myth he got from his father, and Jack does that.  It's part of Ennis's growth with Jack.   Recall that (in the film) that's the first time we see Ennis happy and smiling.  If you want "tantalizing", I think Jack sitting naked in the tent the second night is a better example.  It sure worked.  ;-)

I luck forward to viewing this dance move.   I read the book and I understand about this dance.   I did not realize how it was as far as being so provacative.

I am now more intrigued about this movie.    I thought from this booklet the dance move was more jumping up but this man dancing for another is more interesting!

I think the best part of that scene is showing Jack completely comfortable with Ennis. He's "Expressing Himself" - so to speak (no Madonna pun intended) and he's showing Ennis what he is like. That also means taking a risk, but isn't love about it, too?

No, he's demonstrating the stereotypical rodeo guy (the self-centered showman) that Ennis mentioned; it's for Ennis's benefit, but I definitely wouldn't call it a seductive dance.  *I* find it incredibly charming, so perhaps I'm undercutting my own point here, but well, it's a lot of things, but don't imagine Jack doing a 'seductive dance' or you'll be really disappointed.  It's sweet, is what it is.  Very open, very generously acted by Jake G.

In this book I do noit find a reference about a parade.   Waas a parade added in the movie?

No ikulong, there was no parade. There is no dance either.   What manila_rocks thought was a dance is actually Jack pretending to ride a rodeo bull.

p.s.  Are you in Taiiwaan?  Taipei City?

So,  he rides a rodeo bull or does a performance of someone riiding a rodeo bull.  That sounds very hot.

yeah, what we can see from that scene is Jack is fully comfortable with Ennis, he had no hidden anything from Ennis, he'll share whatever inside his mind!!

that's called Jack's true love for Ennis!
