Lost in my thoughts: to live in the microcosm of Dozy Embrace even only for a while, would justify me as human being.
Dreaming of perfectly beautifull DE love scene.

That's not truth "Ennis would not then embrace Jack face to face......", that's only painfull thinking. Something that happens to each of us from time to time.
The point is, we both should be in this camp.

thomas . . . I feel you are spot on here. “See ya’ tomorrow . . ” signifies it all for me. Firstly, Ennis’s undying love and commitment to Jack, he will always come back and see Jack tomorrow – even to just see his ashes up in Lighting Flat. But also it signifies Ennis’s ongoing internal battle with himself, his need to be at peace with himself, his introverted self in which the outside world is separate – including Jack. I see this as the penultimate frustration of Jack not being able to get inside Ennis, or to not be able to stay inside Ennis. Every time Ennis leaves, from that first time when Ennis switches with Jack and goes to the sheep up on Brokeback, to the last time when he drives away, it is Ennis not only leaving, but Ennis retreating back into himself - into his own private world. The world only he understands and is comfortable with. Only later with his epiphany when he discovers the shirts does he begin to accept himself and his love of Jack as part of the outside world, the world of Jack. I feel Jack always understood this about Ennis, from those earliest days when he watched him ride away, he recognised the inner turmoil (as well as the undying devotion) of Ennis. JMHO

Jackster...I love everything about this quote, even if I've never heard of the word penultimate. ;)

Tony...I forgot that you live about 4 1/2 hrs. east of us.

Thisd is an interesting point you raise about Ennis not looking at Jack face to face.  While I admit that I hold a different opinion, I must admit that your POV is a plausible alternative view.
