I don't think it's perverse,Thomas,but very normal.It's Jack being more human,more similar to any of us,what makes him more attractive as man and as person...But in this sense,I prefer older Ennis precisely when he's also more vulnerable; used as we're to seeing him in his "strong and almost violent macho man" disguise,seeing him crying or lowering his sentimental guard is what makes him also more human and,so,more attractive in all senses for me.As a matter of fact,Jack shows himself more vulnerable all the time by demonstrating his feelings,his dependence of his lover,in a opener way;Ennis,on the contrary,is hiding them almost always...

Well, this certainly makes sense -- especially the part about Ennis showing his vulnerability -- although Ennis in the last part of the Last Confrontation is just too intense...

I think he's too intense because he's also too vulnerable; there,he shows his vulnerability,his "human" part in the strongest way...

That's the word, GORGEOUS, absolutely gorgeous!!!

Cutest Jack scene (and I've seen this mentioned somewhere before but can't find the thread at the moment) is when they are saying goodbye  after coming down off the mountain and Jack asks Ennis if he will be going back next summer and he does a kind of cute eyebrow raise, that looks so hopeful and sweet.  I also love it when he talks about his son and says "... smiles a lot".

Some of my favourite sexiest scenes are:

SNIT when he's just getting Ennis to lay with him and he whispers "It's allright".  mmmmmmmmmm...........

lowering himself down onto Ennis in SNIT, as many of you have already said

the motel scene when he says "brokeback got us good, don't it".  I like to listen to this with headphones on, and close my eyes, and it's just like he's right there saying it to you....................go on try it, it'll take you to new places!!!!!!

 Very well said MPJ. This is the way I see him too, and what he's thinking. He needs a sign from Ennis that they will meet again , the sooner the better. I also feel he knows deep inside that it's really what Ennis wants too. He wants to say,:  I know about Alma and all, but, what about us? and what happened to us up there on Brokeback?  I have no doubt you feel these words, the beauty of it is we can all feel them. These two were both works in progress, handsome as the day is long, Ledger and Gyllenhaal, Jack and Ennis. I t was cute how they sort of stumbled into sex, fumbled into love and tumbled headlong into a life of sincere human feeling. They both spoke to us and  I adored them.

In a way, but I think Ennis's gets a bit more intense and tortured, whereas Jack's borders more on pathos.  Pathos can be "cute", in a way, but intensity sears...

Would it surprise you that when the movie first came out, some forum members found the rodeo "dance" Jack did for Ennis a bit "awkward" to watch?    I personally found it both cute and awkward the first time I saw it -- perhaps it was cute because it was so awkward.

Yes, I remember a very early post here on the forum -- in the thread about scenes you didn't like.  I remember at least one member saying that he/she didn't like this scene. 

I think the scene grows on you.  When I saw it the first time, I was taken aback by Jake's very generous acting.  As I saw the scene more and more later, I appreciated it for what it was -- a subtle and wonderful expression of how happy Jack was when he realized in that scene that he and Ennis actually connected. That's what makes it so cute, IMO.

Yes, we seeJack's playfulnes in these early scenes very consistently, and this scene is certainly a wonderful example of his "clowning" around.  Can we balme him, drunk as he was in his own secret happiness?

As for the harmonica scenes, yes -- and I did feel that Jack perhaps played it in part to tease Ennis...
