Another scene I find very charming, not so much as a scene, but more it's deeper meaning.

It's after FNIT, when Jack is washing his clothes. He is cold ( and we know that he hates cold), but wants to be clean when Ennis comes back. Oh, how lovely that intention is!

Watching him there I felt frozen myself, thinking - how on Earth he's going to dry that clothes, what will he wear (  ) until's dried... but as much as the scene itself was unpleasant, and the background music was disturbing reflecting his inner insecurity, inside my heart I felt warmth.

His way of showing love, of wanting Ennis to accept him, his firm attention to take their relationship to a higher level even if freezing in the water, that was so touching... oh, God! I LOOVED it! 

Mmm good points. I really like this scene too. I especially like the link between this cold scene and the less literal "cold" in LC.

I agree that Ennis did find that gesure a bit too "caressing" and it made him conscious...so he immediately grabbed the cloth away from Jack...I wonder what must be going on in Jack's mind at that time...I feel that he was thinking of being there for Ennis...that is the most important...He dint want to come too strong on Ennis and so just looked the other way when Ennis grabbed the cloth as he just wanted to Ennis to settle down and feel at ease...

Yes, it wasn't just Ennis who was putting an check on himself in this scene.  Jack certainly was careful to let Ennis clean up himself, because he probably sensed what Ennis sensed.  Love and desire can't be hidden, even in the most simple of affectionate gestures.

I love this scene too...I love such gestures of Jack..they speak volumes...I also think there was insecurity in Jack's heart because even though he knew that Ennis felt strongly about him, he also knew that Ennis had his own fears and was scared that he would give into it..

I agree Thomas...I think Jack dint wana make Ennis more conscious than he already was...Ennis already was in so much physical pain at that time that it was best to let Ennis make himself comfortable...Jack was around and that meant a lot...

As this scene was directly continued from their brief conversation on the hill, we, as a viewers could only imagine their speechless supper that evening charged with mixture of sensual expectations and the fear of it... That is a scene I would've definitely looooved to see.   

What we see is only the last part - Jack in the tent - more than ready! Ennis outside- more than willing! Mmmmmm

This was so meant to be and they both went with the flow...it was so very beautiful...I loved the look of Jack in the tent thinking whether Ennis will follow his heart tonight and come to him or not....He was waiting...Ennis on the other hand was drawn towards Jack and realized that Jack is all that he wanted...What followed was a union of 2 souls

You know what is also lovely in their intimate scenes - it's how they look at each other (especially Jack), with touching or a little spaced foreheads, holding/caressing each other head...

The most passionate moments were in the FNIT before the sex act, the most emotional moments was after the Ennis's kiss in the reunion scene, and in the SNIT was just the split of the sec in the very end of the scene, when Jack stops kissing Ennis and just lean his forehead on him (mouth open...).

In these scenes Ennis sometimes looks down, but Jack keep his eyes firmly on Ennis.

I've seen this kind of scenes in other movies too, but never so much emphatic, with so many energy and relay of emotions to each other. Who ever thought of it is a genius! I looove that. 

I have a feeling as they're making love with their eyes.

In the FNIT, Jack showed with passion that he wanted Ennis and Ennis too reciprocated to that…Then in SNIT it was so tender and affectionate...The eye movements and warmth showed the love…Jack wanted Ennis to know that he is all for him…Ennis on the other hand showed Jack that he there is no place he actually wanted to be but with him…So much was said without words.

The fire burning between them creating this  sexy , romantic, glow in the tent and on their faces. , Jack's insistent desire to kiss Ennis. ..finally! I think that Ennis didn't say "sorry" at all. It's Jack saying 3 times "it's all right". Well, Ennis doesn't strike me as a person who would apologize at that moment. He was puzzeled enough with his own feelings and his wish to make love with Jack. Besides that, nothing to apologize. His lips don't move, and the voice is Jack's as well as the rhythm of words "it's all right". Well, at least I think so..

And the most alluring moment for me is when Jack said "come on..." holding Ennis's head and aproaching to his lips...

Isn't it strange how we never get tired of SNIT? Why?

Was it about the innocence in two of them, the friendship growing to become a passion, their burning wish to make love, the fact that what they do is forbidden, the freedom they felt even in the beautiful environment of Brokeback where they could forget all the society restrains .... I don't know! But this is the best love scene I've ever seen!

I think it's their vulnerability to as you say "forbidden" desire. The giving up to it. , To lay themselves so open after so much rejection in their lives. They discovered  love and acceptance in one person. unending  love in it's purest form.That's sexy.

Ennis was certainly in pain, but I suspect that he couldn't hide the fact that he found Jack's touch comforting.  THta's what made him conscious, I suppose -- that he couldn't hide the feeling of being comforted.

What I understood was that he did say sorry for not saying a word in the morning before leaving ..I know Ennis needed time to accept what was happening but imagine the plight and insecurities on Jack that whole long day and then Ennis said “ I aint queer”…I know it dint matter at SNIT because all that really mattered is their expression of love and the fact that they wanted to be together but IMO Ennis felt bad for how he was in the morning… I feel that’s what the sorry was for…IMO

But someone replied to one of my posts very recently that Jack was homophobic too, and there was no way that Ennis and Jack would ever got to the point of living together...

I surely don't agree that anything would've stop Jack from making his dream come true... except the dream (Ennis) itself. (if you can understand my point). I mention this post because you and me are talking about 3 simple words here to remove the "splinter of mirror" in Ennis's eye, and this member is talking about a situation that has no possible mean of resolving it!

I can agree that the situation really remained unresolved and lead to the tragedy, but I like to believe that E&J weren't THAT FAR from "sweet life"!

I think this is very true..In the initial phases it was needed but then later on Jack was too tolerent...For e.g after the divorce when Jack came to meet Ennis and Ennis told him that he cant spend time with him, Jack just remained quite and was hurt but went away,,.Perhaps he did so with the fear of not losing Ennis and so he just bottled it up..

It's not me who find Jack homophobic, it is another member who replied to my post. In my opinion Jack was too ocupied searching for love from Ennis that he didn't mind so much about homophobia, even he was aware that Ennis's homophobia was the main reason for his decision not to live with Jack. At least it's the way I see it...
