Well that's not before 2015... but the premiere of the full score opera is in January 2014 in Madrid... I wonder...
Madrid, never been to Madrid...  :s)

hey I lived there in 1976.
Your folks just called you Ennis?

ennis is a bass baritone and jack a tenor..

now what does this say..?  :s)     ::)   :)

we have our next big meet ready, folks..  O0

A bit off topic but for better understanding

Bass Baritone is not the deepest male voice but not far from it, however the tenor has the highest tone in male voice range.

One example here of a duet between a tenor and a bass baritone, from Verdi's Don Carlo

BTW, this example is not a love duet but a duet between old friends.  ;)

Ennis would get the deepest voice and Jack the highest one, very well suited for the characters and a male - male love story.

The romantic character, Jack, would be sung by a tenor.
The denying tortured (and traumatized) character, Ennis would be sung by a bass baritone.

It all fits with opera conventions.  :)

And on this, end of  *o)

nono that wasn't  *o)  at all!
thank you for the explanations and the perfect sample..

do you think it might be a sort of "modern" opera, like the philipp glass ones? i mean b.britten sort would be fine, but further than that? i have heard there is gerard mortier involved, and from his time in austria i remember him more on the traditional side, so to speak...  :s)

This could give you an idea, it's the closer to an opera I could find, a mass Charles Wuorinen wrote back in 1982.

You could go on youtube and type Charles Wuorinen in the search box... it's not Benjamin Britten for sure.  :s)

from the
guardian.co.uk, Thursday 31 March 2011 Charles Wuorinen

Well, the man matches his name: Wuorinen -  Wuori - Vuori - a mountain: it's a small world...
