Time Magazine's "Oscar" article
« on: Feb 21, 2006, 06:54 PM »
The February 27 issue of Time magazine has an "Oscar Face-Offs" article for best and supportng actress and actor with thier predictions

Best Actor
Heath Ledger vs. Phillip Seymour Hoffman - They say that Heath should win, but predict that it will be PSH.

No other members of the BBM cast are there. In supporting actor they pick George Clooney as "should/will win" vs. Paul Giamatti. In supporting actress they have Amy Adams as the "should win" and Rachel Weisz as the "will win".

I still think Heath does more of a stretch in the role.  But I am really starting
to not care who wins or not anymore.  I mean look, the damn movie has
changed the culture, what the hell is higher than that?  Some statue from Hollywood.  Big deal.

I want all the BBM cast to win.  But they have all ready won in so many ways.  I have never heard of any of these actors before BMM and now it seems everyone knows them!
But what a night if BMM was to win all the awards it was up for!

Thanks for posting chrissy323.

We all think Heath should win and hope he will win.

I agree with Toadily. Winning would be nice. But if it doesn't, it won't change how I view BBM.  ;)For what we have shown here, Heath and the entire BBM have won in many ways.

PSH may will have the little statue (may be not) but who will remember him many years later other than the book of Oscar. Sorry, PSH - you didn't star in BBM and make an impact on many of us here.  ;D

That is precisely the point. The impact is beyond awards.
Of course I would be pleased if BBM got Oscars. And if the judges were honest, an award for Heath means one for Jake too, and also Michelle W. and Anne H. How can anyone separate the impact of Ennis from his interplay with Jack ?? from the interplay of the four main characters ? And who wrote the story anyway ?.... You understand what I mean ?  :)

I agree stephan, of course some formal recognition of what a wonderful film this is would be great, and i will spurring it on oscar night with all of you, but its already the biggest winner of any award to me - i adore it x

Somebody please tell me which topic we are gonna be in on Sunday night watching the show. I don't want to be alone. I'm relying on you guys here. I want to be with you and watch together.
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Do any remember the old voodo witch from " Midnight in the Garden good and Evil " Well She just made a potion and send it out to all the Oscars members and if they don't make Heath ledger the supreme winner of is merit as indicated by Annie proulx, give him his Oscar, they will rot in hell and will all be buried face down! ;D ;D ;D ;D

I agree.  This movie deserves every award it's been nominated for (and I think WILL take Best Picture, director, screenplay and score) - but it means SO MUCH MORE than the awards - - - it has opened eyes and hearts all over the world, not only to same-sex love, but the power of true love--whatever shape it chooses to take.
He pressed his face into the fabric and breathed in slowly through his mouth and nose, hoping for the faintest smoke and mountain sage and salty sweet stink of Jack but there was not real scent, only the memory of it, the imagined power of Brokeback Mountain of which nothing was left but what he held in his hands....

Time Magazine's "Oscar" article

I read this interesting article in Time Magazine, about the Oscars - who might win, who they think should, why, and the likelihood of each nominee's winning.

The main picture for the article is an interesting, funny caricature-like art style.  ;D Ennis is especially well-drawn.

The thing that disappoints me about the article is they think that Hoffman should win best actor, AND, there is no Jake Gyllenhaal mention at all! Even though he is nominated for best supporting actor!  >:(

But it's an interesting article nevertheless.

Read it (and check out that picture I mentioned) here: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1161225,00.html

I WOULD share pics from the article (of the actors and actresses) that I scanned into my computer, but when I preview them here they don't show up.  :(

Anyway, tell me what you all think of the article! For those who have seen other movies nomineed, such as Capote and whatnot, it might be especially interesting.  ;)
BBM rocks my socks!   :3
