My favorite line in the maovie is, "It's because of you I"m like this - I"m nowhere, nothing."   Ennis's pain is palpable.  I completely fall to pieces evrytime I hear this line.  Also, this is the closest Ennis ever gets to professing his love.  This hits me as hard as Ennis finding the shirts.

I love them all equally but this one gets me every time..

One other line really does me in too and it's this

As long as we can ride it...ain't no reins on this one

I love that one because Ennis is all but saying that he's in love with Jack...that what he's feeling is stronger than anything he's ever felt, something that can't be controlled...and I really think that Jack understood that :\'( <^(

For me it's always been "See you in the morning" at the end of the dozy embrace scene, because it makes me think how few mornings there have been when they could say this, and that there will never be any more.

my vote was more along the lines of 'i miss you so much' when they meet again after 4years. my tears go to overdrive and i started crying coz i can actually feel their pain. they waited 4years to see the person they they truly love. 4long, hard years....those little words aren't enough to portray how much they had wanted to be in each other's arms during the 4years they were apart. but a close one would be...'i wish i knew how to quit you'. it just goes on to show that jack loves ennis so much that he can't stop loving him even if he wanted to. so strong was his love for him....

The most profound quote for me was spoken in anger and despair by Cassie.  "Girls don't fall in love with fun."  But men do, Cassie.  Love is not about wearing shorts and needing attention.

what did she fall in love with?  She didn't even know him.  She may have wanted him, but love?  that's laughable.  love would never hurt Ennis.  She attacked him. 

She was so tortured and so serious.  If she had just listened to herself.  This was an important point of the whole movie to me, the contrast between man/woman love and man/man love.   Ennis and Jack had fun.  The movie portrayed women so truthfully as to what we really are to men.  Rarely are we fun. 

Cassie  needy
Alma   boring
Lureen   money driven
Mrs. Twist    lonely housekeeper
LaShawn    talk, talk, talk

Against this backdrop, Jack and Ennis lit up the screen with something magically delicious.

They had a relationship filled with amazing love, energy, humor and excitement.  And in that mix was fun.  They had fun... wrestling, skinny dipping, sharing, friendship, joking, laughing.  What a brilliant script.

Let's all have more fun!

In their own way, I think Alma, the children, and Cassie loved Ennis.  They just couldn't understand th depth of his predicament -- having to struggle with himself and living the lie.

A for Cassie's quote: "Girls don't fall in love with fun", I think she meant that she never intended to just toy around with Ennis.  She had always wanted a serious bond with Ennis, and she was aghast that Ennis didn't recognize this.
