The Truck Scene
« on: Apr 01, 2006, 11:24 AM »
hello all, been awhile since I've been on the site and we've discussed this scene in the past but couldn't find the thread - and so I don't know what the final outcome was:  It concerns the scene where Jack and Ennis are in a truck together in the trailer - I was finally able to freeze that scene enough to get a good look at it and there's someone else driving so one would, I think, assume that it must have been when they were being taken up to the drop off point.  Like I said this may have already been brought out but if not thought it might give us a little more insight.

Hello Bob,

Yes, I remember the old thread, but can't seem to recall what the concensus was about this scene.  What you suggested seems plausible.  I wonder if the other (newer) members have more information regarding this scene.

Bob,

I remember seeing the scene in the trailer. I don't remember the thread though.
I would also assume it's them being brought to the drop off. Or possibly back to Aguirre's trailer after the summer is over?
“What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger."

Before seeing the movie, I assumed this scene was at the end of the summer, when they're about to part, since we see Ennis close his eyes as if he's in a pain he can't express out loud.  However, there's been some discussion elsewhere on this board about the shirts they're wearing, which seem to suggest this scene is earlier . . . .   Sometimes filmmakers will place scenes out of context in a trailer to communicate an idea that the movie itself didn't actually represent at that moment.  So maybe that's what they did with this (sadly) deleted scene.  Hope it's included in the DVD somehow.

Sheildmaid, you may in fact be correct, now that you mention it, there facial expressions are kinda sad looking so it may have been as they were being trucked down from the mountain.  Thanks
